Question:

Why do so many people deny Global Warming?

Even the Bush administration admits it happening and so many people still deny it to be true. I find that most people who disagree have no argument whatsoever to back this up just flagrantly deny it. There are scientists from around the world (NASA, NOAA,) that have hard facts that are hard to dispute. Arguments like there are periods of cooling and warming or its a naturally occuring ice age, which is just bullshit! Where do they get this from? These processes take over thousands of years not 150 years. This warming and exponential Co2 growth has really catapulted since the Industrial Revolution from US. You could literally give these people hard facts til your blue in the face and the ignorant b******s will still completely deny it. Its mind boggling how clueless these people really are!

  1. Because it's fake.

  2. I want to know why so many people deny the truth.

There is no consensus on this global warming hysteria. The "facts" you site as B.S. are in fact true. Even the definitive standard report, the IPCC, does not state there is a catastrophic global warming caused by industrial pollution.

Actually I know why people deny the truth and fall for non-sense, this global warming hysteria has become a religion.

  3. for ever there was no global warming why now in the olden days there was pollution not as much.

  4. I don't usually reference Al Gore, but his film had a very appropriate title.  Global warming is an inconvenient truth.  We're responsible for altering the Earth's climate drastically, and changing this is going to require some serious and inconvenient steps.

Some people don't want to accept this, so they go into denial, sticking their fingers in their ears and only listening to Rush Limbaugh.  It's not an uncommon human reaction to bad news.

  5. The Bush administration believes it!?  Well OMG now I know its true!!!  So now the other half of our crooked politicians start paying lip service to global warming and suddenly I'm supposed to change my mind? The only thing that changes in my mind is that I now know there is a buck and a vote to be gotten, and the Republicans want their fare share. I hear this question from people, that for the last 7 years have been telling us what a liar and incompetent he is. Now Bush says "Global Warming is real" and you say, "even the bush administration admits it is happening." Do you suddenly believe them now? or are you willing to use anything in your grasp to further your interest? I really don't change my opinion by anything a politician says.  How do you tell when a politician is lying?  His/Her lips are moving. Wow, we are clueless ignorant b******s. I like that part. I like how well the name calling furthers your scientific argument. I know when I want people so see my beliefs, that if I use name calling; especially if I insult their intelligence, that it really helps  them to see how knowledgeable I am and usually convinces them right away that I am right. nice job!

  6. I recall reading a quote not long ago that it is very difficult to make a person understand information if his livelihood depends on his not understanding it.  People who depend on coal for their income, for example, tend to be very difficult to persuade.  James Imhofe, the US senator who denies global warming more than any other public figure, is a major coal supporter.

The other major reason is that global warming -- or the remedies for it -- conflicts with their values, such as belief in laissez-faire capitalism.

The end result is that such people accept anti-global warming ideas based on very shoddy scientific practice while rejecting much sounder research.

  7. I don't deny global warming. I don't deny global cooling (which was the previous fad). I don't deny climate change.

What I deny is the man-made global warming myth.

Very simply, an undeniably, the Earth's weather has changed int he past. Ice ages have come and gone and come and gone and come and gone... The Earth's climate has changed repeatedly over the milennia. It is a fact of life.

Just ask the wooly mammoth. Global warming killed him off.

I blame Neanderthals. ... in Chevy Blazers.

  8. Right On! (so hippie)

I really don't get how so many people can be so against it. Like you sid, the truth is staring them right in the face. Some of the reason why is that they're ignorant and they don't care!! They are content to sit on thier butts while the world is going up in flames! They should invest in SPF 5000 because they'll need it.

Those kind of people just drive me crazy.

The weather has been really crazy this year and it's probably all beacuse of global warming. Did you know that it snowed for the first time in history in Bagdad (sp?) last year?

    It's crazy!!

  9. O.K. why not look at the other side of the equation? Not all climate scientists agree on man made global warming. Dr De Frietas, the climate expert from Auckland University has some very convincing arguments as to why global warming is not a scientific fact. Fortunately Dr De Frietas is totally independent and lives in a country that exploits more natural resources such as wind, hydro and geothermal power for its electricity.  Visit www.climatescience.org.nz to view the scientifically considered arguments from the other view point. It is also very hard to take global warming seriously when the people who are pushing for the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels are pushing for so called cleaner alternatives such as hydrogen as it only produces water vapour when you consider the following facts.

95% of the greenhouse effect is caused by water vapour. Hydrogen power will add to the greenhouse effect. Want a demonstration of how powerful water vapour is as a greenhouse gas – tell me the last time you had a frosty autumn morning when there was cloud cover and then think back to the frost and clear skies.

The Greenhouse effect – without it, life on Earth would not be possible. Because of the greenhouse effect the planet has an average surface temperature of 15 c. Without it the average surface temperature would be –18 c.

Of the other 5%, gases like methane, nitrous oxide etc contribute 4.85% and carbon dioxide contributes 0.15% - figures as quoted by the late Professor Augie Auer one of the world leading climate scientists before he died.

As I understand it, there are some limitations on NASAs ability to accurately measure global temperatures due to atmospheric interference with their measuring techniques.

According to climatescience.org.nz the Earth stopped warming around 1998, 1999. Strangely enough this coincides with the natural increase and decrease in solar activity – plenty of video footage is available from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory – even on youtube. This whole thing smacks of some hidden agenda.

  10. I honestly have no idea. I am a 14 year old, who spends most of my time on my skateboard, or sitting outside 7 11 eating sour skittles and a dr. pepper. I know for a fact that global warmng is real, and it is a threat to life as we know it. It amazes me that grown adults believe this to be a hoax, and I believe if we do not act soon  enough, than my generation will be the one that faces all the poblems that were left by the non-believers. How can people be so close-minded, and God bless those of you grown adults who are trying to make a difference. We need to make a difference, we need to change what we have done, and stop what we have started. But I'm just some 14 year old skateboarder who wants to live in the same world that his parents had the privlege to enjoy. What do I know?
