Why do so many people do this?

Why are so many people putting blondes down. I'm a natural blonde and so many people call blondes dumb and ugly and fake. Why? I know personality determines everything but i'm just wondering.

I'm blonde and have been my whole life. The last time I heard that blondes were dumb was when I was in Junior High/Middle School, because of all the blonde jokes were out. I've never heard people generalizing blondes to be ugly though, thats a first!

i dont think the dumb blonde thing is meant literally at all because im black and i clearly dont have blonde hair and have been called a dumb blonde for making "ditzy" statements ppl are always gonnahave somthing to say about something so forget them and love ur blonde hair girl...the boys dont complain lol.

I think it has to do with celebrities. Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan (Okay, she dyes), Paris Hilton. All blonds that are being heard of doing stupid stuff alot. I guess that just goes over to normal blonds, so people think their stupid.

Oh, and teenagers are trying to be like celebrities, so they bleach their hair and turn all ditzy, so they don't exactly help the blond image.

Because people are stereotypical. There is absolutely no reason why or why anyone should, they just do. Perhaps it's because of the average celev blonde. Paris hilton? Brooke Hogan? That kind of thing? Either way, whoever starting downgrading blondes was wrong. [:

i'm from the south, and people like to think that i am a racist misogynist, but that's unfair. i think it's only the fake blondes that small minds make fun of, and you're right personality is every thing. so, if you're blonde. smart, and funny, people will try to bring you down. short answer: jealousy.

I'm not a blonde, but the media (especially Hollywood movies) continue to portray blondes in a stereotypical manner, which feeds people's attitudes about how blondes are dumb. And since people already have that idea in their heads, when they DO see someone blonde saying or doing something dumb, they go, "Oh, yeah, see... that confirms that blondes are dumb," without thinking about how many times people with other hair color do or say dumb things. Some of my friends who are blonde also sometimes "play" to that stereotype to get what they want and it makes me mad to see them putting themselves down like that.
