i think because people think the world revolves around them and they don't think about the bad until some thing  happens,,, u can say be careless

Because they only care about themselves and don't think anything's going to happen to them. They're rude, lazy, and inconsiderate.

they just get sloppy over the years when they havent had any near misses.  they just push the envelope with the: cell phones, pda's, blackberries, etc....then comes the day when their inattention becomes fatal for someone, and in this area, this moron winds up turning left in front of a bike.   i recently watched 1 of these idiots basically blow thru a stop sign while on the cell phone....and cut off a bike riding 2-up.  if the rider hadnt been on the ball, he would have been down.
