when he was a self described agnostic for many years up until the day of his execution, gave in and took last rites through the Catholic church?

Terror is terror, however why do so many believe this nut was a Christian when the OKC bombings happened when he admittedly was not one?

  1. It probably has to do with his stated sympathy with the tragedy at Waco.

I think this is misinterpreted as having a strong Christian ethic.

  2. because he was

  3. why? does the truth hurt?

  4. Because an atheist who commits atrocities commits them alone, unconnected to the great non-belief of atheism, but anyone who claims to be Christian, no matter how far removed from Christian ideals their actions are, are a Christian regardless. Is that so hard to understand?

  5. Y'know, you're the first person I've ever seen mention his religion at all, and that's twice today you've put the same question up... so, well, far as I can see you're starting the rumour just for the sake of denying it, or vice versa.

  6. anyone they can associate with a church they can use to attack religion. They try to assign all wars as done by religions when very few wars involved any religion at all.

They lie to further their agenda

  7. Most terrorists are *NOT* religious.  They are simply violent people who like to inflict pain on others under the *guise* of religion, regardless of whether they are calling it Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, or whatever.

  8. How many times in one day can one pose the same question?

  9. Because he was Eric Rudoulph's g*y lover.

  10. if he was visited by an imam it would be an open and shut case for him being islamic, right?

edit: @ azred- thats absolute bull.  nice try trying to let religion off the hook, but we both know what you say is untrue

  11. It's like Obama claiming he's a Christian.  He has a secret  motive.

  12. Does it really matter what faith he was or what not he killed many people in OKC.  If he professed christianity then he missed a huge point when it said thou  shalt not kill.  Bottom line there are fanatical nut jobs on all sides of the debate

  13. Before he became an agnostic, he was a devout catholic. Even if that wasn't true, it does nothing to dismiss the historical atrocities committed in the name of Jesus.

From an interview with Time magazine:

    TIME: Are you religious?

MCVEIGH: I was raised Catholic. I was confirmed Catholic (received the sacrament of confirmation). Through my military years, I sort of lost touch with the religion. I never really picked it up, however I do maintain core beliefs.

TIME: Do you believe in God?

MCVEIGH: I do believe in a God, yes. But that's as far as I want to discuss. If I get too detailed on some things that are personal like that, it gives people an easier way alienate themselves from me and that's all they are looking for now.

  14. I suppose when your facing certain death, it's a real wake up call. Fortunately, for those on death row wanting to repent, there is still time. Unlike the many of us that die, not on a schedule.

He may have been a spirit filled child that fell to the wayside. Who really knows what happens to people that kill other people. The fact that he was remorseful and asked for forgiveness is what is important.

I think the moral of the story is God forgives even the worst of us. Is all we have to do is ask.

    God Bless Us All.

  15. McVeigh did not profess to be a Christian, but he did identify himself as an agnostic.  His deeds are not those of a Christian believer.  There has not been any quotation of the Oklahoma City Bomber professing any Christian faith.

In an article by United Kingdom’s “The Guardian” about McVeigh’s execution, we find this reference:

“In his letter, McVeigh said he was an agnostic but that he would "improvise, adapt and overcome", if it turned out there was an afterlife. "If I'm going to h**l," he wrote, "I'm gonna have a lot of company." His body is to be cremated and his ashes scattered in a secret location.”

McVeigh not only “said he was an agnostic” but showed that he was defiant about h**l itself and remained unrepentant.  Then we also find the same statement that he was an agnostic admitted by Lou Michel during a cyber interview with CNN.  Lou Michel spent hours interviewing McVeigh in writing a book titled, “American Terrorist: Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma City Bombing”.

Lou Michel: "McVeigh is agnostic. He doesn't believe in God, but he won't rule out the possibility. I asked him, ‘What if there is a heaven and h**l?’

"He said that once he crosses over the line from life to death, if there is something on the other side, he will -- and this is using his military jargon – ‘adapt, improvise, and overcome.’ Death to him is all part of the adventure.”

Conclusion:  Not a Christian by profession nor by action.

    Cheers,

    Bruce

  16. He had been reported as a supporter of the Christian Identity Movement, that's why.

This is an armed group who are preparing for a war between "the children of darkness" (Jews) and "the children of light" (Aryans)

They call themselves Christian, whether you agree that they should or not.

McVeigh made several calls to them in the weeks before the bombing.

  17. "McVeigh justified the bombing, saying the federal government “drew first blood” when more than 70 Branch Davidians, including children, died April 19, 1993. McVeigh bombed the Murrah Building exactly two years later. He said he hoped to “wake Americans up to the tyranny of government,” according to a defense memo."

The Branch Davidians were a Christian cult.  David Koresh, compared himself to Jesus Christ.

  18. Of course he was a terrorist. Just because most Americans think a terrorist wears a turban doesn't diminish the real meaning of the word. None of the IRA terrorists wore turbans.

A Christian? That I am not sure about but it makes no difference to me. He used a bomb to terrorise a nation and kill dozens of people.

  19. I don't think he was a terrorist, psycho with a vendetta yes. terrorist use their tactics to inspire fear and usually for political reasons, Timothy Mcveahs reasons were merely to get a high body count and revenge against his company. Although I am not for such horrific acts of violence.

  20. He was.

His "anger" was in part a reaction to the siege of the Branch Davidian Compound in Waco Texas. He was part of a gun-show culture that was dominionist and Christian. (not all gun show people are part of that culture.)

He got most of his ideas by listening to right wing radio.

  21. The right-wing militia groups with which McVeigh associated had strong religious agendas.  In addition, he Oklahoma City bombing happened on the anniversary of the raid on David Koresh's Christian militia in Waco for a reason.

McVeigh was, however, more motivated by anti-government sentiments.

  22. I have never read anything Tim McVeigh had to say about his beliefs, or lack thereof.  But I am always annoyed when people hold up individual acts of violence as proof of the faulty morals of a whole group, be it Christians, Muslims, or Atheists.  There are mentally unstable people who are violent in every group.

  23. Shandora, Because when you look at all the people that have been brutally murdered at the hands of communistic atheist.. They have to grab for all they can get to try and defend their position.. From a violence point of view.. I really cant believe atheist even bring the subject of violence up when trying to refute Christians... They really don't have a leg to stand on.... Hope this helped...God bless you !
