Question:

Why do so many people use the gamecube controller for super smash bros

I have a game cube and a wii, and I have seen that most people prefer playing super smash bros with a gamecube controller. Is there any special reason, I would imagine that playing with a nunchuck would be better because it would be wireless.

But I dont have the game and I am saying that based on the demo I played at game stop

  1. well, most ppl think its easier, to stick with the old controls, and it IS easier, and not to have to change to having to press Z+UP etc. to learn how to use that game.

and now most people have more gamecube controllers than wii remotes and nunchucks, and most ppl have more wiimotes than nunchucks.

  2. simple the gamecube controls are tighter more comfterble and easier to learn than with the wiimote with the nunchuk and most people are used to the gamecube controlers playing super smash bros melee and because the gamecube controler is a better choice for fighting games on the wii

  3. Us smashers are set in our ways. And what I mean by that is that Melee was the most amazing game for us. We loved it. We loved everything about it.

Now I know that when I heard of SSBB coming out I got my *** on smashbros.com every day for about a 1 and a half year duration.

    But I digress...

The reason we use the GCN controller is because we used it for melee. And although they are two different games, it just felt right to use the GCN instead of getting used to another type of controller.

  4. Because a lot of people that have brawl also have melee and are used to the GC controller. The nunchuck is almost impossible if you are used to the GC controller!

  5. post your question and/or FC on the SSBB forum, link below,

  6. The Gamecube controller is the better controller for fighting games.

And my wireless Gamecube controller has less wires than a Wiimote attached to a Nunchuck...

  7. Many people who are obsessed with Brawl also played Melee (myself included). Since the controls are exactly the same between the two games, it's just much more convenient to keep using the controls that you're accustomed to. I've tried using the Wiimote + Nunchuck, but so many years of Melee have engraved the Gamecube controls into my brain. If I try playing with a different controller, it's like my brain has fallen out.

Lots of new games are great with the Wii controller(s). However, Super Smash Bros Brawl has too much in common with Melee for me to care about the Wii Controllers. I'd rather continue to reliably pwn my friends than lose every time because I can't remember "oh yeah, this is a different control scheme, duuur."

  8. Meh. Being tethered to the console is a small price to pay for superior controll.

And I think there are wireless models out there with rumble.
