  1. "I do not think I a superior either" lol

when I was your age I was one of probably about 10 kids at my school who had internet access, and if you wanted to chat, you had to TELNET to a BBS which you've prolly never heard of either.  There was obviously no YA and if you wanted to get on a forum you had to subscribe to a mailing list.  And it was uphill, both ways, in 10 feet of snow! lol

My point is I don't know if it would have bothered me then.  But it bothers the c**p out of me now.  I try not to ***** too much cuz I do it from time to time (with your/you're) and sometimes i write you instead of your and don't notice.

That "overdoing it" example you gave was underdoing it, if anything.  It makes me think everyone is stupid.

What I really hate is when someone makes an argument that I agree with, let's say for instance, regarding politics.  But they misspell every word and generally come across as a r****d.  They're actually doing more to damage my cause then someone arguing against it!

By the way, (off topic) did you hear that new kid rock song?  It makes me want to kill somebody.  Or myself, even.

    EDIT:

This is what half the other answers looked like:

"Yeah, I know, it relly bothers me the way they mispell everything!!!"

I want to do a screen dump so I can upload it somewhere.

  2. I agree. I have always been a really good speller and such, it just seems like common sense to me. It's not too hard to understand the difference of "your" and "you're", etc. Oh well.

  3. yeah.... and it's they're not theyre.....

lets face it, its not that hard to spell but when people are talking fast and trying to get a point across spelling isn't that important...

you still know babys and babies is the same thing no? once you mature and learn to just deal with it, it won't bug you anymore

  4. UGH! I know! For some reason it really vexes me. Like one of my friends spells ewww like "illllll" and desprate as dessprat. It's SO annoying , maybe because I learned how to read earlier. Ohhh and when people read SUPER slow and with no emotion in class, I just read alone and block out the person in my mind.

  5. Yea it irritates me too. But I live in the south so it's kinda expected down here. But I prefer to be educated and speak proper English. I won't raise my family here either.

BTW I love your name. Lanna. It's so pretty!!

  6. Yeah, I agree. When people type crazy like that, it makes it hard to understand what the heck they're talking about. It also drives me nuts when people start off sentences with lower case letters. I mean, if you have sense enough to put the period, why not push on the shift button and capatalize the first letter of the next sentence?

People also get "you're" and "your" mixed up.

I think some people type like that because that's how they speak. A lot of people don't pronounce the words right so there's no way we can expect them to spell them right. LOL!

  7. When I was your age it bothered me too. Do you feel superior to them because your grammar is better? I bet you do. I did. Anyway, don't dwell on it. Just keep studying in school and when you get to college you will find more educated people who can spell and have good grammar.

  8. Some people dont care, some people like to type in a hurry, and some can not spell, some have "keyboard issues"..... You should not judge people for it. People with learning disablities like dyslexia can not help it and it makes them feel bad when people like you are always correcting them and making rude comments like this.

  9. it drives me absolutely nuts.  what's even worse is when they type things like "hym".  it takes the same amount of time to type it correctly, so why not do it that way?  i'm not perfect and i know i make mistakes.  sometimes, i have a hard time reading the questions on here with all the weird spellings.  i'm not knocking on anyone really, but do they think that would be proper to put on a resume....or an application...or even a report for school?

  10. From what I gather, they do this on purpose because it is cool

  11. Spelling and grammar have never been a problem for me, and I learn more about it every day. Some more that bother me are it's and its (with the apostrophe it means "it is," and without it means possessive like his and hers) - how hard is that? --- and also, when someone says, "She don't know" - doesn't is just ONE extra syllable! There are many others, some that I've heard just today, but I try to block them out as much as I can. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.

People excuse their bad writing by saying that they have spell check, but it definitely won't fix everything. I want to know what happens when all the people who actually know how to spell and write are long gone and there is no one to correct anyone else's writing. Have you seen the movie Idiocracy? It's very vulgar but gives an accurate preview of what the world is probably coming to.

  12. Because people are ignorant and lazy and are generally very slow typers. That's really all I have to say, I mean, there's not much more you could say from a person who uses 2 instead of to.

  13. I usually spell check my posts before I post, so I don't look like an idiot. As for grammar... I try my best : )
