Why do so many people want to get rid of the Royal Family?

Without the royal family in England, England would become a lot more boring country. The British Royal Family is without a doubt one of the biggest parts of British history, if not the biggest. I daresay the only real reason why I am interested in British history is because of the royals. The family generates a great deal of income for the country. Many complain because they pay taxes to the Royal Family, but it is not a huge amount of money and only poor people should really be complaining about it. The Queen travels around the world, representing Britain, visits local communities, donates money to charities, and participates in activities for those charities. She helped in the British military during World War II. She does not just sit at Buckingham Palace, sipping tea all day. She is an educated woman who has worked hard. It's not like she is Paris Hilton who is a school dropout, obnoxious party-goer, drama queen, and a disgrace to her family name.

Probably because they have blinkered vision and are jealous of their status, and voice this in claims of the Royal Family's German ancestry and unfair taxes, and, and, and....the list goes on

For your info, most Brits are pretty poor, and living hand to mouth for the majority of their lives. I know I am. Tax totals around 35% of your overall earnings, and then you've got to pay another 17.5% VAT on top, so they do get a lot of our money.

It angers me to hear that you're only interested in the Royals. England has a helluva lot more history than that one family. Definitely more history than the United States.

The Queen herself may be qualified, but old Chaz only got into Uni because his father had a word with the top dog there. His grades were below the pass mark, but hey ho, he's a royal, so he got in anyway. Funny that...

I don't think you can comment on the royals like this unless you've really experienced living in England, and seen how they rule over the people here. Certainly you cannot comment if you've only visited the country under the impression that they are the only thing good about this country.

its bcz of those d**n immigrants that want to creat a MULTICULTURAL country of there own and all thoes humanitarian white ppl...thus the see the royalty as the last form of true british history its the reminder that britain canada and australia are european....

Read "The Rights of Man" by Thomas Paine. I have advocated getting rid of the Washington DC crowd of pompus arses in the same way France and most of Europe rid themselves of the Royal Parasites:  laugh at them

For one, the US does not pay taxed to Hilton(Though she and the rest of her family get money every time someone stays at one of those expensive hotels). And, by the way, you did some her up rather well except you forgot to add a few words, alcoholic and unpaid prositute.

Two, the Brittish royal family is nothing more than a figure head. Though they do go to other places in the world to meet with foreign dignitaries, some of the Brittish celebrities actually do more.
