  1. People have thier own reasons. Some do it cause their burnt out on the kids and need a career change, but want to stay in the schools. Others do it cause they see how crapy other teachers can be and want to be in charge so they can hopefully make a change to this by having a school where can choose the good teachers. Some do it cause they dont like authority and only want to be the boss. Some do it cause they just wanna make the big bucks sitting at a desk.

  2. There are many many different reasons teachers do this. My friend has beena  teacher for 5 years and next year will be a principle. These were her reasons.

~She could not find one grade level that she enjoyed teaching. She taught 2nd, 3rd 5th, 6th.

~She felt she did more work and got less pay then she deserved.

~A very tough, rude, abonoxious priniple moved in and she couldnt stand her.

~She didnt like middle school aged children but elementary children learning was to easy of a level then she wanted to teach.

That is why next year she will be come a principle at a K-6 school.

  3. -Probably they got tired of the student`s behavior, and don`t want to deal with them in class.

-Becoming a teacher was not their real vocation.

-Might be that some of them have started loosing faculties.

    Ex: They can`t hear well.

-Some are tired, probably they started working since they were very young and now they want something quiet.

  4. Having worked at the public schools I would say being a principal is hard but not as hard as being a teacher and that is why some choose it over teaching.  Also, another reason may be that it is where teachers can move up to if they want to.

  5. More pay; more prestige; better opportunity to advance/move up.  When you're a teacher, you don't advance - you can't ask for a raise, you don't move up to any higher position (unless you become an administrator).  Also, some teachers stay in the classroom long enough to get the experience with the students but don't really enjoy working with kids - they would rather work with adults, so some go to administration; also, some feel that being an administrator is the only way to CHANGE things - teachers have little to no ability to make changes.

  6. There is ample oppurtunity for a principal to spread his own philosophy of education and freedom to act in the school,.  Promotional chances are there more vertically in the educational administration avenues.

Financial and social status are plenty and catter the psychological need of a middle aged person in the higher orders.

The administrative role makes them identify and explicitly demonstrate the inner capablilities of leadership and managing techniques.

  7. i dotn - i've been teachign for 9 year and i;ve forcingly nto been goign the leadership route to an office.

afetr 5 years i ended up with a great head of dept job- i had a baby- came back the followign year - no HOD position but people were treatign me still like i was one.

i had to get my line manage to hel pme push back -

i am an excellent classroom teacher and can give the most benefit in the classroom.

this year i am a mentor and an instructional strategy leader.- i get to model for all the new teachers and help them also.

i dotn want an office - i actually like to get to really know all my kids.

its easy to go up the ladder!

  8. The pay differential is tremendous, plus the fact the principal no longer has to fill out lesson plans, grade papers, and sitting down can happen more often.
