Why do so many teenagers aspire to be actors, socialites, and singers?

Shouldn't they aspire to be a helpful influence on their community? It seems so pointless.

Well you have to remember the Society we live in today is all about how people look and how much money they have. Everything on TV, Magazines, Movies is so full of how people think we should look and what should be important in our lives. Kids today see that and that is all they have as an example unless of course their parents are more involved in their lives and motivate them to do other things.
