Why do so many women, especially FEMINISTS feel the need to point out their EDUCATION level?

You know.. the whole "I'm educated and independent" thing?

Why?

Do they think men care? Do they think an educated woman is so RARE that its a big deal?

I can tell a womans education level just by talking to her. I don't need her to point it out to me.

  1. "Do they think men care?"

Considering how often you and Ronnie whine about this...the answer is yes.

  2. Educated people are rare. Only about 20% of Americans posses a bachelor's degree.

  3. That behaviour is common in both genders.

Strange that dsds calls it irrelevant and superficial, but points out his own and Guns' education and claims men's is higher anyway.

  4. Informing others of your education level is a means of establishing credibility.  I would be much more likely to care about what someone has to say if I know they are educated.  Admittedly, you are correct, you can often tell whether or not someone is educated by how they communicate.

  5. Very true. Same could be said of men and their "things"...you know..."I am going on a vacation to such and such, I have three cars, etc etc"

It seems guys are much more into their things and women are much more into their accomplishments.

It's really unnecessary in both cases.

  6. Ow hello! Men do that too!

  7. It's not cultural Lynthiana.

Women obviously try this as another attempt to gain respect and association with men. They tried offering s*x- some aren't satisfied with the results, some didn't have have the prerequistes to make such an offer appealing. So those left out from the benefits of offering s*x try something else- They go out and get Phd's and MBA's and its like "ha, look at me now!". In reality no one cares. Eventually they'll move on to the next category of attempts at garnering respect.

  8. Well, usually something like that occurs when a misogynist stalks feminists on the internet with a really inspired social commentary, along the lines of, oh, "women are IRRATIONAL and ILLOGICAL." Something like that might provoke a feminist to let you know just who you are talking to.

A question for you, why do you feel the need to come on a Gender forum and whine about how mean women are? Is your masculinity really that insecure? I feel sorry for you. :(

And good for you for somehow magically knowing someone's education level without them telling you. That must come in really handy at parties.

  9. In my experience, most men do this, too.  I think it's a cultural behaviour, not a gender behaviour.
