  1. Adaptation albeit a slow one. Societal norms change to match the environmental changes. Technological evolution has changed the way we view information processing. Not having a cell phone is strange now when in 90s it wasn't, for example. Searching the web rather than going to library is a no brainer, when in 80s libraries were still one of the main sources of information. And like that with everything.

  2. Technology creates a lot of change for obvious reasons.

  3. Forces at work within society, contact between societies, and changes in the natural environment all cause societal change.  Within a society, processes leading to change include invention and culture loss.  Inventions may be either technological or ideological.  (Ex: internet, scientific method) Culture loss is to be anticipated as old cultural patterns are replaced by new ones.  (Ex:  telegraph-fax)  Within a society, processes that result in the resistance to change include habit and the integration of culture traits.  (Ex: religion, tradition)  Intersocietal contact through diffusion, acculturation, or transculturation can also lead to social change.   <Diffusion is the transfer of things and ideas from one culture to another.   Acculturation is when unknown traits diffuse in on a large scale and substantially replace traditional cultural patterns.   Transculturation occurs when an individual moves to another society and subsequently adopts its culture. >  The United States is a melting pot of various races, ethnicities, and cultures-so it only makes sense that the joining of these various cultures would produce change on many levels (local-“Chinatown”  worldwide-globalization).

  4. Propaganda, propaganda and more propaganda. Just compare crime from the 60's til now, one example would be crime it's been getting worse and worse. People think that punishing with niceness is the key but its been getting worse and worse. There's more murders, rape of women and children and jails are too packed. But society has been brainwashed into thinking otherwise.
