  1. Success is a very broad term and can mean many different things to many different people.

If by success you mean material wealth and why society seems to want people to achieve great material wealth, that is because power and influence usually come hand in hand with wealth. Not to mention wealth can buy many things which will allow you live a more luxurious lifestyle. All these have positive connotations, therefore, it seems to be something that is coveted. Knowing this, sometimes people choose to follow paths that don't allow room for a lot of material wealth, and then theres the whole conflict with what you want and what you should do as society dictates.

But success can also be happiness and pleasure in what you are doing, and if by following your path you are happy then you have also achieved success and in this case, society allowed you to choose your own path.

  2. Nothing wrong with expecting people to be the best they can be. ( why would anyone want to be less?). The key is how one defines success. It certainly has a different meaning for different people. But regardless of the path a person chooses they should always strive to do their very best. Nothing like going home at night knowing you did a great job. If you take time to think about this statement you will realize that its not always about money, power, etc. True success is how you truly feel about yourself. Just don't try to fool your self. Great is great, mediocre is mediocre, and sliding is sliding.

  3. SATAN IS THE AUTHOR OF MANY PROBS INCLUDING ALOT OF WARS AND WOMENS LIB WHICH MADE THINGS WORSE...now Everything costs a fortune and most women work which is bad for the kids!!

  4. It's because most people have little concept of what constitutes success. In North America, for example, success seems to be measured by how much money a person makes and this perception appears to be creeping into Europe. In fact, nobody can make a success of life without achieving contentment and fulfilment. The Book of Proverbs holds the clue. http://bible.cc/proverbs/15-16.htm

Not everyone can get to the top of the tree and it is not reasonable to expect everyone to do so. A person who is happy in his or her work and who does it with skill and integrity is successful.

  5. lol  society doesn't pressure people to achieve success... they push mediocrity.   No child left behind.. forming lines at the groceries... what fashion is in and not in and if you are not wearing the current fashion -- you are out...everyone has to have a bf/gf at 13...at work there is the crab mentality (pulling each other down)...  what else?.... wow I ran out of examples.

About choosing your own path ... well you just do it naturally ... no matter what path you choose, you will be one of the many.
