Why do some European cars have a left drivers side ?

  1. Mainland Europe drives on the right side, same as North America, so their cars are LHD.

    Ireland and the UK drive on the left, so they are RHD.


  2. Because not all European countries drive on the opposite side of the road.  Russia, Denmark, etc. do not drive on the left side of the road.  Thus, it would be pointless for them to own cars with drivers sides on the right.

  3. WE have a left driver side, some Europeans have a Right driver's side. Originally, folks with weapons on horseback were mostly right-handed, so they came at each other with their right sides together. That carried over to cars. I think it depends who originally colonized a nation, which side the driver sits on. We're on the left just to spite England, I think. I can't imagine driving on the wrong side of the road- I'll take taxis!

  4. Because in some european countries they drive on the right hand side too! (France Germany Austria etc..)
