Why do some PE teachers allow peer "captains" to pick teams?

Don't they realize that there is one child who will always be picked last and that it is usually the same child? I thought this practice went out with the dinosaurs. This is a horrible practice and it borders on bullying! Any thoughts?

I do agree its not good. It always seemed like they pick the same kids to be captins all the time favoritism is not good. Which is not fair to the other kids and the kids that are picked last...imagine what that does to their self esteem.

I agree with you. I'm in the 9th grade and this some times happens at my school. Its ridiculous anyway! This is something that leads on to bullying.
