I'm just curious, is there a reason for this or do they just do it?

  1. Because high socks are the way uniforms are supposed to be worn.

  2. Sometimes players that usually wear their pants down, who aren't hitting good or are in some sort of slump will try to switch things around. Its all superstitious.

  3. it looks cool :P

  4. That's just the way they do it... I do it like that; I think it looks better than just letting them go all the way down.

  5. They do it cause they wanna I like mine like that too.

  6. all depends on the player's preference

  7. "Baseball pantlegs have been slowly creeping downward since right around World War II. From the 1860s to the 1930s, baseball pants were "knickers" ending just below the knee. In fact, umpires used the bottom of the pantlegs to gauge the strike zone, which was supposed to end at the knee (according to the rulebook)."

"From the '50s to the '70s, there was some variance between individuals and teams, but pants typically ended about halfway between the knee and the ankle, with stirrups or coloured socks still visible."

"Personally, I think it looks stupid, and I'm not the only one — there's now a growing "retro" trend where a number of players are pulling their pants back up to their knees, showing a lot of sock."
