  1. SOME CLOSE ON A TUESDAY AS WELL

it goes back to competition with chip shops

  2. Make your own:)

(Look to the left of the screen where it says 'Asia Food Recipes')

  3. They are open later on the weekends- and do a lot of their business then too- it's a typical restaurant day off world wide.

  4. Well, they have been open for the whole week so naturally, they need a break! Most Chinese takeaways only have family members as staff, so mostly they vote to see which day to rest. I know because I worked in one of these chinese takeaways before...

  5. Monday?

In my area it is Tuesday when all of the Chinese restaurants and take-aways are closed.

I had always assumed that it was something to do with their religion, but maybe not?

  6. You'll find it's more prevalent with chippies. They close on Monday because there's no fish deliveries on a Sunday.

  7. quiet night after the weekend crowd so time off for staff

  8. Guess its a hangover from chippies closing on a Monday because the boats didn't go out to sea on a Sunday so there would be no fresh fish.

  9. Because so many of them are open through the entire weekend, and they usually have a very small staff, sometimes only family members, it is a day they can take off and still cater to their trade on the weekend.  Here in the USA, there are many restaurants and other all-weekend small businesses, like barber shops and beauty salons, that are "dark" on Monday, as are some entertainment venues like live theatre and concert halls.  Everyone needs at least one day a week free.
