  1. The word perfect in the Bible is not used to mean that a person is without any flaws. It means that a person is "perfect with God", in other words, that he has maintained a relationship with God and has willingly repented of his mistakes. Another example is David: he is referred to as being perfect with the Lord all the days of his life. Yet David is almost as famous for his mistakes as his heroism, so how can this be? Because David was humble before the Lord and repented his sins, accepting God's judgment without question.

  2. You are correct. In fact, God was telling it to Satan - three times.

    Here's the explanation:

    Gen 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

    "Be thou perfect" in this verse can be more correctly translated as "become you perfect".

    What is important in this connection is that the God of the Old Testament was Jesus Christ.

    1Co 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

    1Co 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

    1Co 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

    1Co 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and THAT ROCK WAS CHRIST.

    Here's what Jesus has to say in the New Testament about this.

    Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

    Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, AND the faith of Jesus.

    When He was here as a man, the people thought that only s*x outside marriage was adultery. Jesus explained that if we allowed our minds to continue with lustful thoughts we have committed adultery. He showed that we are committing sins that we do not know are sins. As we overcome the sins He reveals to us, He shows us others. It is a life-long process. As long as we are not "playing games" with Him, He does not count sins that we are unaware of.

    Psa 32:2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

    Rom 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

    Those you hear saying that we don't have to are false ministers, and possibly false churches.

    2Co 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

    2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

    2Co 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

    We see from these verses that Satan has churches and ministers both pretending to be Christian.

    One of the doctrines of antichrist is that Jesus was part God and part man when He was on earth. He was completely man even though He remembered having been with the Father. They use this logic to explain that's why Jesus could keep the law. He did have God's spirit "without measure", but we receive the spirit at baptism.

    Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

    We may fall from time to time, but if we remain sincere and steadfast, we will succeed.

    Rev 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

    Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

    Rev 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

    Rev 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

    Rev 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

    Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

  3. The King James Bible was originally translated in 1611. The definition of the word meant well rounded, or complete. This is also the definition of the Hebrew word that it was translated from.

  4. Job was not without sin. The Bible says there are none without sin. We all can be made righteous with God. When this happens we are perfect in his eyes. If we were not none of us would ever get into heaven because he requires perfection of us.

  5. Job was righteous. but not perfect. Only God is perfect. Please show your scripture reference that says Job was perfect.

  6. read the first part of job. he was getting prideful

  7. Job was not "perfect", the word would be more accurately written righteous or blameless. It is possible that Job was the greatest follower of God on the planet at the time, which was why Satan targeted him during the wager with God.

  8. Job's perfection is more easily understood when looked at in terms of what Biblical perfection is

    Benevolence, Love, Good Works, Control, Obedience, and the constant striving after of perfection.

    It is wrong to understand him as perfect, but he was perfect in what God wants from us.

  9. Because they know they are not willing to do what it takes to be perfect.  Sounds mean huh?  I argue all the time that the Bible says "Be ye holy as Christ was holy."  That is a tough shoe to fill.  Many know their guilt and that makes them uncomfortable too.  We have a duty to strive for perfection.  I  think people like Mother Teressa were perfect.

    You can also ask them why they are not priests or saints.  Yet the Bible clearly calls us a royal priesthood and some where saints.  We need to shut up and step up.

  10. tomatoe, tomato

  11. perfection is doing what your supposed to do all the time.

  12. The Bible does not say Job was perfect, it says no one was more upright than he was. There is a difference between being an upright person, and being perfect. Read the story again, then provide scripture and verse where it says perfect, you cannot because it does not say that.

  13. Job is a false believer since he new ahead of time who was visiting him, and he showed he would do anything to get his deserved reward. It would have been more impressive as a lesson if he had no idea who was going to visit.

  14. I don't know why because I believe there's a verse that says to be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect.  It takes God's power for you to be perfect though you can't do it yourself.

  15. The word "perfect" describing Job, means "mature".

    Hope that helps!
