  1. They hang out at cop bars and you know, hook up.

  2. Ever so often police departments evolve in one area of the other. IN this case studies have shown that having cops in seperate cars stretches the resources. Many calls are of such a nature that one officer can handle it. If you have them all doubled up you waste a resource that could be responding to another call. As another person mentioned, you may see two riding together and one is a Field training officer who is training a rookie.

  3. Up to the supervisors, cops usually dont have partners any more,

  4. Sometimes they'll ride two to a car if one is training the other, or if they're in a really dangerous part of town.  Also, I've heard some departments are doing it now to save gas...those big V8's in the cop cars eat a lot of gas.

  5. when communications where not very good years ago cops had partners for safety reasons it is still that way in some big cities

  6. Only in big cites it is for saftey reasons but they dont do it most of the time anymore MOST of the people in my LITTLE town they dont have partners but the BAD part about living in a LITTLE town when your a girl is NOT going on shooting calls or anything the ONLY thing you can do is write tickets

  7. Some have gas problems and some don't.

  8. In QLD Australia we generally have a partner, the exception to this is traffic officers who work one up. can't tell you why .... but I suspect a great deal of the rationale is budgetary.
