  1. Lack of knowledge. Because all those countries are full of drooling idiots who collectively don't have the brain power to light a light bulb. They even believe they are in a "Third" world and must travel thru 2 worlds to get to ours. They think that everyone in our world are like super heros with powers, because we are a "SUPER POWER". All they can manage is mud huts and caves. So sad, so very sad.....

  2. many cities put a stop to them because they say it hampers the view, which started another debate on building them down into the earth, instead of up ... like deep basements

i wish there were more skyscrapers personally

one interesting fact, if you're familiar with the ancient "Bretz Floods" ... is that many floating icebergs melted in what is now downtown Portland, and deposited many beautiful gems and crystals into the valley floor.  some of these are found during skyscraper production even to this day in that area.

  3. It has to do with the ground they have to build on.  You can't build skyscrapers on mud, you need hard granite bedrock.

  4. Some countries which have large populations of old rich men need to reassure themselves with giant phallic symbols.

  5. It's mostly because it takes a LOT of money to build a sky scraper-- $1 million+, plus all the labor required to build one.

  6. Skyscrapers are generally not built in earthquake zones nor on sand.

  7. In some cases, it's actually because of weather/geological conditions. It would be a very bad idea to build tall buildings in an area frequented by earthquakes, landslides, or hurricanes.

  8. Acrophobia! Its due to the ground. a lot of desert places can't build high up because the foundation is to hard to dig deep enough to sustain a foundation the will hold a skyscraper. Other Places a just under developed like 3 world countries. Skyscraper's are like fancy model cars only the rich countries can afford them.

  9. I think you will find that even many third world capitals have some pretty tall buildings.  But it is a function of land value.  When it is possible to spread out, it isn't worth building tall buildings, but eventually the sprawl will be too big and the center of the city's land values increase to the point that it isn't economical to build small buildings.

  10. Money and Leadership
