We have about six crows at our house. I think they are fascinating to watch. The crows are all about the same size. Some are hoppers and some are walkers and it seems like the hoppers always hop and the walkers always walk to go all about the same speed. I understand that small birds might hop and larger birds might walk but these crows all look to be the same size. Just a curiosity as I watch them.

  1. It is all part of their system!

  2. Well it all depends. It's like saying why some people hop and some people walk. Crows hop because sometimes they're trying to get food. Maybe they're small and have to hop. Also, they may walk. It is right what you said. It may be some leg problem or development of legs. It just all depends.

  3. with certain birds hopping is a mating ritual, but I'm not sure about crows,it could be that the male crow is trying to woo the female!

  4. I never noticed this. Genetic predisposition maybe.  Maybe they like hopping.
