Why do some defend Russian hypocrisy in Georgia?

They claim to be "peacekeepers" but won't let Georgians return to their homes in the disputed area saying "we can't guarantee your security". Oh ok, so Russia can guarantee the security of Ossetians against Georgia but won't protect Georgians who live there? Satellite evidence proves Russia is supporting ethnic cleansing in the area with hundreds of ethnic Georgian homes being looted an burned under their watch. Is this the evenhanded justice of a peacekeeper?

Unfortunately, the root of your problem is in your addiction to the western media. There is certainly hypocrisy, but it comes from the West. Ethnic cleansing is occurring, and this is very sad. But it is not a direct cause of Russian influence, it is angry South Ossetians, who, after being bombed and attacked by Georgia, are desperate to retain Independence. they are angry. and it is justified. The Georgians living in S Ossettia, regrettably will feel the brunt of that anger. and Russia should do whatever it can to prevent that from happening. But what was the alternative? If Russia had not intervened, far more South Ossetians, including ethnic Georgians in S Ossettia would have been effected by the bombs coming from Georgia. With the Russian intervention, there was far less cost.

it is just one big mess over their and the us isn't helping the situation at all. georgia is our puppet government, and it made a bad move and russia reacted . . . . the american news is really bias. i just feel bad for those living in south ottsia.

There is a problem with your reasoning.

Georgia attacked south ossetia first which in one night they killed 2000 civilians most of which were Russian people.

America has been funding and training Georgias military and Cheneys right hand man gave them the go ahead to attack. DId you also know that US military were also involved for RUssia found dead Americans. Havent heard that on US news like CNN and MSnbc or FOX.

Georgia got what they deserved and anyone that thinks otherwise are completely ill informed.

In fact what we are doing in Iraq is worse by ten fold than what Russia is doing with their counter attack. We just went in to Iraq with shock and awe killing 75% of civilians the first night of bombing. Iraq had no air force, navy or effective ground troops. SO the US went into a helpless country and devastated it and Russia is bad. OK turn FOX news back on and keep dreaming of sugar plums and fairies. Hitler would love minds so easily manipulated as the ones in America today.

Without proper news we can be led into the fires of h**l and cheering for it the whole way down.

This sounds only similar to forced on democracy in Iraq.   They never had it or wished it.  Only the USA said that they must need it.

many sattelite countries, ex-soviet contries are mad that they are not in the eu or nato and think they can gain membership if russia tries to take them over.

georgia is a very beautiful, cultural diaspora of many peoples and beautiful landscapes and cities languages. the peacekeepers are sour grapes that georgia has been fine without russia since the dismantlement of the soviet union and amazingly has no membership with international institutions such as nato and eu.

-yes russian peacekeeper is totally nonsensical, very funny actually when you come to think of it.

-south ossetians are in georgia that is what they have failed to notice.
