  1. The FDA generally allows foods to be labeled as “natural” if such a claim is truthful and not misleading and the product does not contain added color, artificial flavors or synthetic substances.

    It's very possible that the vitamins actually do come from a natural source and is not lab-grown.  However, the FDA and USDA are both notorious for turning a blind eye, so the product may very well be misleading.  If you are concerned about a product you have seen.  Try to contact the FDA.
