Because they think of it as a predominately female sport and it is (intended, at least) as a non-contact sport, which goes against "manliness", I presume.  However, it is not, it's really a good "either" sport.

Maybe because it's a sport that is meant for girls. It's just like some girls saying that football is g*y. They are probably just jealous because they don't get the chance to play on an actual team. Or they could just be jealous because they know they could never do what "we" do. Just don't pay attention to guys like that---they are probably jerks anyway. They aren't even worth it---volleyball is a wonderful sport and it's a fun way to exercise!

you know i finally asked one of the guys that used to hate vb and now plays and he told me.  he said that its becasue girls play with a kind of finesse that guys dont think they can pull off.  rather than trying and getting it they find it easier to make fun of it.  he also says that it's because they dont want to make an idiot of themselves and have everyone laugh.  so they become the people that laugh.  idk.. this was his explanation.  i find that boys are just lame and stupid.  but its my opinion.  =]]

because guys don't understand that it is an actual sport and that it takes a lot of practice, hard work and dedication. if they were to play it and learn how many different technics there are to playing volleyball, i think they'd understand.
