Why do some liberals get all PC and fashionably offended at the word "ret^rded" or "ret^rd"?

Why do so many of these same liberals not get offended when people abort a baby just because he/she has a mental disability?

I think, for me at least.. it is a reflection of a narrow vocabulary that leaves a person unable to clearly state their ideas.

It is the same as if you call a g*y a f*ag. They get all up in arms. But call GW Hitler and that is ok to them.

The reason is, is that they are just not right above the neck and between the ears.

Because it is in the same league as the "N" word - unnecessary and degrading.

And if someone is aborting a child, the reason is no ones business.  If you knew the care, dedication and expense it takes to care for someone with a physical or developmental disability, you wouldn't even be asking this question.

I work with physically/developmentally disabled individuals - they are not "retarded".  The only "retards" out there are those that choose to call someone such a word simply based on a difference.  Some are highly intelligent and very wonderful people - they are simply judged by others due to what some deem as a "handicap".

And you really are sick, choosing to liken abortion to disabilities.  Really - if you are so caring and loving then why are you being so completely ignorant?

Now - I work for ME - I own the business, and I currently care for adults.  And while I did not abort my own child, nor would I have, since I do what I do, I do see the trauma that the parents and entire family go through.  Knowing that as I do, I can state that I honestly understand the choice that someone takes on when they find out the baby they are carrying is physically/developmentally disabled.

For you to sit in your cozy little home and judge others for decisions that you know nothing about, and you sit there and know NOTHING about what you are speaking to or about - only what your "moral majority" told you what you need to think.

If you really want to understand my position, then become a foster home for an individual with developmental disabilities.  After doing that for 6 months, contact me and tell me how uncaring and cold I am.  It isn't babysitting, and you work 24/7.  And it isn't going to be the "sweet" Downs Syndrome person that thinks you are the world.  More than likely, you will get an individual that will trash your things and get mad because their favorite tv show isn't on when they want it to be.  

Talk to me when you've walked a mile in the shoes.  Until then, keep your "righteous" attitudes to yourself.

Those terms are usually used incorrectly, but I dont find it offensive when some person demonstrates that they don't know what those terms mean.  How that relates to abortion is unclear.  if you see some correlation, you might want to have your vision checked.

The context it is used in is frequently offensive to anyone related to a person suffering from actual mental retardation.
