Why do some moms emotionally and physcially abuse their children?

Im sayin only physically and emotionally. why do some moms do it? especially after having showed the kid so much love for such a long time? why does it happen?

I believe what others have stated, but I also believe alcohol etc. play a role in situations like this.

It can happen for a number of reasons; because that's what they learned growing up, stress, depression, etc.

Alcoholism, drug use/abuse, depression, mental health issues, previously abused, hatred, demonic possession, etc..  There are many causes of emotional and physical abuse.  It's really sad.

my mom did it to me and my brothers and sisters bc we looked like my dad.... she was on crack really bad....and all other drugs so there are different reasons why they do it.

Moms aren't the only ones, sadly, Dads do it as well.

In some cases it's something that has happened to the parents, and they don't know how to cope, and the vicious cycle never ends.

In other cases, there may be depression involved.

I read that book and & couldn't put it down!It was absolutely shocking and I couldn't believe that a mother could do that to her own child!There was obviously something wrong with her psychologically.I cried while reading that book,that poor little boy had to endure so much (She stabbed him,made him lie in a bath with only cold water for hours,rubbed his face in a soiled diaper,put him in a small room with ammonia so that he couldn't breath,locked him in a basement,never gave him new clothes and this is only some of the stuff she did).I just hope & pray that there aren't any other ****** up parents like that sick woman!

well i read that book and i think that people just snap under pressure, whuch causes them to drink, and do drugs, all that stuff, and they don't realise they are abusing there children and when they become sober they love there children very much. thats in some cases but others are when parents are just plain evil. i believe david's mom snapped under pressure, started to drink, and her real self didnt know what was happening until it became a day to day thing. i hope this helped. not all parents know they are hurting there children when they drink or do drugs. it doesnt mean they are not responsible, it simply means that they dont know what they are doing at the time. davids mom used to be a caring loving mom until the pressure of raising children, keeping the house clean, keeping the kids healthy, all that stuff that most parents have contol of wast there to her. she couldnt deal with pressure.

That's a good question.. I think some moms just loose it. Too much on their plate and they need to take it out on someone. We all go through the same stuff, but these moms can't control there feelings. Instead they take it out on someone, a child, THEIR child.

It's annoying because all parents go through stress, tiredness, frustration, etc and somehow, we keep it together. We don't abuse our children because of how we are feeling. Just not fair! I feel horrible for those poor things.
