without believing in the Bible? I believe in God, just not the Bible, and yes I am a Christian. Just because I choose to not believe in a book that Man wrote does not mean I don't believe.

  1. My first instinct would be to ask, If you reject the Biblical Jesus, what kind of Jesus do you believe in?

    This may be the reason.

  2. Still 'half evil' huh?  (Define Christian first.)

  3. The varieties in Christians is as varied as fingerprints, and that is a good thing.  God doesn't stamp us out like dimes.  I do believe the bible will lead one to Christ, even if you don't absolutely agree with every single word.  Sometimes I think we should appreciate the variation of Christians.  It would be horribly boring if we were facsimiles.

  4. I am somewhat in the same situation.  I believe that the bible has many prophesies and it has God's Word.  I just don't believe that it's completely accurate after all of the different translations.  There are just too many inconsistencies.  But I am still a Christian =)

  5. The Bible is essential to any Christian. I am a Catholic and the Bible says alot about good morals set down by Christ, proothe of Christ divinity, and lastly good counsel from St. Paul. Oh and did I state that that is only the New Testament. You also have to realise that the most accurate Bible is the Douey-Reims bible.

  6. I think that there is nothing wrong with what you believe in.  Rember, religion is what you personally make it.  No matter what anybody thinks, their idea of religion is different than their sisters', brothers', parents', neighbors', etc. views on religion.  Plus, the Bible wasn't written until like 50-100 years after Jesus's death (proven fact).  As long as you follow the moralities listed in the Old Testament and believe in Jesus I think that you can still call yourself a Christian.

  7. Hmmm.  I don't know.  Before I was an atheist, I didn't believe in church or the bible... and people said I couldn't do that, like what they're saying to you.

Ah well.  Ignore them; they can't tell you what you have to believe.

  8. How can you believe in Jesus but not the scriptures He Himself confirmed....

Do you not think God is capable of keeping His book true...

  9. There is a lot of wisdom in the bible, along with stories and poems.  The bible may have been written out by man, but it was inspired by the Holy Spirit (the New Testament).  The Old Testament is poems, stories, allegories, laws for living in a community, for worshiping, even military techniques.  But most of all the Old Testament points to the New, while the New fulfills the Old.  You don't have to Believe in all of it as literal, but how about believing in what Christ said?
