I can give you actual examples

Dean Dean

Wayne Wayne

Wayne Dane

They sound so stupid and do these parents understand that silly names can be a source of bullying at school. Don't parents ever think of school when they chose a name for their child. Plus, there are hundreds of names!

  1. oh i certainly thought of it!  my husband is pat patterson.  the crazy thing is that he's a jr!  i wanted to slap his parents for that, but what caan i do?  if we were having  a girl, he wanted to name her madison, simply because he loves that name.  then i said it out loud for him...madison patterson?  please!  i grew up with a ridiculous last name and got teased...i'm not making my kids' names rhyme like that!  after i said it like that though, he backed off.  he didn't think of that.  and we both agreed that a boy would absolutely NOT be named pat...i put my foot down there, and he wholeheartedly agreed!  we named our son keegan.

  2.    and i do ...tolerate Parker,like a name and surname....JUST,

but ...generally it is ....pure ignorance of course(¡ha!)

  3. I agree with you!!  I hate it when parents do that.  Wayne Dane especially sounds dumb lol

  4. No imagination.  I hate when they give them names like John Wayne, how lame is that?

*Jay Ro, the question is : "Why do some parents give their child a name which is the same or similar to their surname."

  5. I know someone who's name is Donald Dawn (Don Don). It doesn't bug me in the least.*

  6. Lol.. I have a friend named Etta Ettingsworth and she's never gotten bullied. I also know a Louis Louis and he's never gotten bullied because of his name.

Really, kids don't bully other kids JUST because of their name. They might joke around, but that's not the same as bullying - that's more just having something to talk about.

  7. whats the question?

  8. I know I was looking through one of my old yearbooks and I came across a child who was named "William Williams III" and I was like what gives... its kinda funny to me but I wouldn't bully him for it...

And to one of the previous posters - Yes people will bully you for ANYTHING... it could be a choice of words from five years ago or your name... and bullying isn't just forcing a kid to give you their lunch money - bullying is when 1 or more persons does something that make an individual feel inferior or uncomfortable.

  9. If they get a book of names it would help some people, but they try to be creative without thinking about the kid and how they will have to live with that name, unless they change it when they are adults.

  10. I think it's silly I'd never do that to my child it is just another opportunity for children to bully them...

  11. yeah like
