It really annoys me, as I write this my little brother in law (8) is playing saints row, and screaming at the screen, "die die your all gonna die, no ones leaving, I'm gonna stab you, ****, *** hole " and my mother law just ignores it. I really want to turn off the disc and throw it out the window, I think it's disgusting, dose anyone agree?

  1. I think if there mature it doens't matter.

Like I am very mature but also a scardy cat.

So I watched my first R rated and started playing Teen and Mature games at 11.

But it can only be because of killing.

    Nothing sexual.

I totally agree with that young watching that... That unresonable parenting.

  2. I THINK IT DEPENDS ON THE CHILD. IF THE CHILD CAN'T BE CIVIL WHILE PLAYING THE GAME THEN HE SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO PLAY IT.

ESPECIALLY SINCE HE IS 8 HE SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO PLAY A GAME LIKE THAT.

I AM 13 AND WHEN I WAS 8 NO ONE MONITORED THE GAMES I PLAYED. BUT IT WAS OKAY BECAUSE I ONLY LIKE ADVENTURE GAMES BUT THE ONE VIOLENT GAME I WOULD PLAY WAS MORTAL COMBAT.

I HANDLE THAT WELL SO MY PARENT SO NO PROBLEM WITH IT.

THE GAME SHOULD BE TAKEN AWAY IN MY OPINION ESPECIALLY SINCE HE IS GETTING CARRIED AWAY WITH THE GAME.

  3. My 6 year old brother knows every single gun known to mankind.

I blame Metal Gear Solid IV.

    [ Still, you have to admit :/ Snake's a legend ].

  4. the swearing isn't acceptable but my dad used to always let me watch horror movies with him when i was little and he used to explain to me about how it was a set and just a movie and all the blood and stuff was just red sauce lol

anyway if anything it taught me not to be scared of movies

but i have seen how some kids react really bad to watching horrible things  and get bad behavior , i think parents should always watch things WITH there kids if its a rated and the kid really wants to see it

also alot of movies get rated 15 or something because you see a boob or a bit of someones bum which i think is alot harmless than war games

    mine now =] http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

  5. I totally agree.  I don't know what is wrong with these parents, seriously.

Many of my daughters friends have been allowed to watch slasher movies at slumber parties since they were 8.  When my daughter had a slumber party- only 2 of the 10 kids invited had parents that even asked me ANY questions.  The rest just dropped them off without ever meeting me or being at my house before!

I think a lot of parents are so wrapped up in themselves they can't be bothered to protect their children from violent games/movies.  My kids are NOT allowed to watch anything over PG (my 12 yr old has seen some PG-13, with my approval & seeing it first) and they may NOT play any realistically violent games.  (Space/laser type shooting games with ships OK- ones with guns/actual people- no)

  6. well i dont think you should have to wait till your 18 to play/watch these things.

but i think 8 is WAY to young! kids are pretty impresionable at that age, and you like dont want them to think that stuffs okay.

i knew a boy who played those games when he was in like grade one, and he is MESSED. hes like realy violent and has angermanagment problems. whether or not its because of those games i dont know, but im sure they didnt help much.

but i think once there like 13ish then its okay,

cause whether you like it or not there exposed to all that inapropriate stuff. with the music they listen to, tv, there friends, even school.

so i dont think it really matters. besides - i think there old enough then to relize the difference between movies/vedeo games and reality.

    im 14 by the way.

ps. take the disc and throw it out the window lol

  7. I have no idea what saints row is, but for him to curse and for your MIL not to say a word now that is annoying. I reprimand my son for using foul language in my presence. He knows it isn't right and he stops as soon as I point it out. He knows I won't let him get away with it, if it continues he will be punished. That is lazy parenting to me for allowing your child to do anything they want, say anything they want, and it irritates me because most of these kids end up behaving really bad in public. My child is well behaved because I do my darn best to pay attention, make sure he knows what is right and wrong what to do and not to do. If he forgets I remind him over and over. I don't have time to just sit there and ignore him. I love my child too much to not do anything.

  8. Saints Row?! Is that woman out of her mind? I think her son blown her head off or something... Of course I agree!

I'm 14, but I play games that are 16+ like Call of Duty, R6V3, Bad Company, Devil May Cry, Overlord and those kind of stuff... But it's just because they are the best games that I can find, and I'm not getting affected by them (unless I play online mode and boys are being sexist...) I don't swear or have any antisocial problems :) If I did, I'm sure my mum would block me out.

  9. Gosh.

There's a reason why 8 year olds shouldn't play mature games. They're much too impressionable.

  10. Yeah it annoys me too. My parents don't even let ME play rated M or watch rated R movies. (and lol i'm 14). When I was in in elementary school I had to attend a s*x ed class, and there was this kid that kept quoting Borat. So this is what happens if they're not mature enough to handle it. And since your brother in law is acting this way, I guess he isn't either.

  11. If he's overreacting then your really  should do something about it. I'm playing games like that since I was little too but just for the fun.

  12. 8 years old is too young. The highest-rating game he should play is Teen, even that's pushing it.

  13. i agree,...!!

    u'r right..

bring this to ur mom in law's notice.....

if she does not do anythn.. u take the call... but b4 tht, consult ur hubby to get into this matter to avoid any later misconceptions & misunderstandings..!!

    all the best.. tc..!!

  14. Good question.  I suppose the answer would be inactive parenting.  And it sure makes it a nightmare for those of us who work with kids.  Kids don't understand that describing a graphic s*x or violence scene to their friends while at school is inappropriate, because their parents were sitting in the chair next to them watching too!  I've encountered more parents who want to be viewed as cool or a friend of their kids than who actually parent.

  15. ppl are crazy....welcome to the real world...all you can do is keep your own kids safe...what others do is outta your hands!
