  1. Some parents believe that a childs job is to finish school so if their child has grades that are lower or if they just want them to focus on school then they will say no to a job because jobs can interfer with your schooling.  Most 16 year olds that work end up working weekends plus from the time they get off school until about 10 pm so they run out of time for school work and that worries some parents.  My mom left the decision up to me but let me know that i didn't have to get a job if i didn't want.  I worked during the summertime but only did babysitting during school months.

  2. A) Those parents are idiots and don't care about their children's educations or well-being.

    B) Those parents are destitute and need all the money they can get.

    C) That child is a prodigy as well as incredibly responsible.

  3. try sitting them down and talking to them and explaining that unless they want to continue paying for everything of yours then you should try a part time job. I currently work only in the summer for 3 days a week from 9-12 which still gives me time to hang out with friends or whatever. Try seeing if they will pay you an allowence to do household chores to start. Hope this helps!

  4. i think your the only son,and they dont want to get your job,

  5. my parents wouldnt let me get a job and even when i was in college they didnt want me to get one because they said they didnt want me to work any time i didnt have to and i felt the same way there was things i wanted that they wouldnt buy for me like clothes or jewelry that i didnt need but i wanted but i guess im happy i didnt work but then again they did let me do summer programs at my dads law firm that i got paid for so that is kinda like a job but it was at my dads work so he was always so now im 24 and never had a real job except 6 week programs for about 6 summers at my dads work

  6. ask your parents why they don't wnat you to have a job...may be they think you'll not be able to concentrate on your studies if you do two things..having a job would give you a lot of responsiblities..double that if you're still studying....you're still young and you might not be able to get a job with good pay...

  7. My parents didn't allow me to get a job until i graduated either and I'm very grateful for it.

They had me volunteer everywhere i wanted so I could learn good working skills but it was only one day on the weekends and I had to be done with all my homework.  They wanted me to focus on school and being a kid.   all my friends had jobs and suffered in school and never got to be a kid and have fun.

Just be grateful they want you to be a kid as long as possible.

  8. Er, that would be illegal hiring an 11 year old to work (although perhaps they're helping out for pocket money or something).

The reason some parents do this is that they are probably old-fashioned, traditional parents that believe the best way for you to earn lots of money is focus on your studies until you get a degree. By having to work will result in you having less time to study or relax for that matter. Consequently, they want you to focus on finishing your studies so that when you finally do start working, you'll have a head start over your peers.

Having said that, it's important to have at least SOME work experience as that'll help you getting a job too. Perhaps convince them to allow you to work for one day a week for a few hours and explain that not only will it give you some pocket money but it'll look good to a prospective employer that you at least have the capacity to work hard/as a team/take the initiative etc.

  9. plz don't rush it, have fun being a kid!

  10. well, their parents, we dont know y they do the things they do. and plus they abviosly want u to focuse on school. and plus u have to ask urself, i really want it, bu tdo i NEED it.
