  1. Some people genuinely don't know what to do when an emergency vehicle comes near them.  I've never heard of any driving class or test which actually teaches this, but, then again, many don't teach the harm of driving while blasting stereos, not using turn signals, not coming to a full stop at a stop sign or light, etc, etc, etc. In these cases, it is pointless to record a license plate, unless that vehicle is maliciously blocking the way, which is exceedingly rare.  Regardless, the cops might investigate your list, but, unless they actually see the incident, most are powerless to do anything more than issue a warning (i.e., for all they know, you wrote down the wrong license plate or got the numbers/letters mixed-up, or, if you're a ne'er-do-well, you wrote down an "enemy's" or ex-spouse's plate, etc, etc, etc); besides, it takes up too much time and manpower to track the vehicle down (and how do they know if the owner of the vehicle was the alleged guilty driver?).

So, I hear you, I empathize, but, unless you want to get an ulcer, let it go.

  2. Well most people don't pull over maybe for one, they don't hear you, because their music is too loud, or two, they can't see you. You might need to record their plates, it might help a little for someone to know that their licence plate will be recorded if they do not pull over.

  3. Where I'm from, the streets are very narrow and I sometimes see people unable to pullover because there's simply no space for them to.  The best thing for people to do in this situation is to slow down, get out of the way and keep moving until they find space where they can make a complete stop.

If they are just blatantly disregarding the emergency vehicle and persist in getting in the way, it might be a good idea to get their plates down.

  4. They are hard to track down and you can't prove it. The guy no one will pull over for in L.A. is probably the one that double parks for coffee. I see him screaming all the time. Did you do something wrong? I think a cop has to see them.

  5. yes get theire tag num.and turn it in to the police because if it weretheire family in need they would expect the same.

  6. Yes you should record their plates and call 911 right away if possible but the reason that they do it is that is comes down to stupidity and not understanding the rules of the road.

  7. You could record their plates but little can be done without a law enforcement officer witnessing the infraction...

In Florida, not only are you supposed to pull over for emergency equipment, if a police officer has a vehicle stopped, you must decelerate and move into the next lane by the time you pass him to be in compliant of this new law...

I have seen them purposely set up a simulated stop and then hammer the people that just blow by in the right lane without yielding...

  8. Because they drive in FloriDUH ! Either they are 300 years old or can't C over the steering wheel 2 visually C them, Pot heads smoking dope &/or there phone is CONSTANTLY stuck { implanted } in there ear! U know they can't chew gum & drive - throw a cell in there, & u have a typical florida WRECK ! Use the cell 2 take a pic or camers or cam corder.

WAY 2 many cops get totalled in Fl. parked on the side of the road with there lights ON ! & u expect them 2 move over.Alot have never seen emergency light & have no idea what they mean.

  9. Some people honestly just don't pull over. I pull over almost on a daily basis for an emergency vehicle when all other cars just keep going. Its a law in my state,  but its not inforced. If it were inforced im sure more people would stop.

  10. Sounds like natural selection at work.  As for what to do - ask your supervisor.

  11. I will pull over for an emergency vehicle if it is coming up from behind me. If it is coming in the opposite direction and no traffic is in front of the emergency vehicle in it's lane I won't. If traffic is heavy I will of course pull over regardless of the direction it's coming from.

  12. It is now an offence now in the u.k to hold up any emergency vehicle with its alarm or lights working ,you must only as a driver of a car pull over when it is safe to do so and it is up to the driver of the emergency vehicle to overtake when safe to do so .

If for any reason there was a accident the same rules would apply as if it was two ordinary motorists , emergency vehicles can only go through a red light if safe to do so if a collision occured the driver of the emergency vehicle could still be charged with running a red light ,so dont think just because you have a siren on or blue light flashing you are above the law ,and to the ordinary motorist turn your getto blaster down a bit and check your rear mirror more often and let the emergency vehicle go and do the job , you never know it could be going to one of your relatives .
