continue to mock teams like Hamilton? They have had 3 or 4 very tough years in a row and yet here we are at game 17 and they continue to take shots at them while they are down and out....if its game 10 sure its fun, but it gets kind of old when its game 17 and they are still taking shots, even from the media...after all, their defence isnt all that bad, its their offence that cant get it done......and the defence then gets tired and gives up points......why doesnt the media let up on this poor team that just doesnt have it? Im sick of the media....the average fan i dont care, put them down, but the media? Give it up.

  1. I think our media as a whole suffer from sensationalism over dose.  They all want their stories to be read and talked about and people don't read and discus feel good stories so they slant themselves to the other direction.  One might call it yellow journalism and it's running wild.  No wonder no one seems to have positive outlooks anymore.

In all fairness though, the Tabbies are a mess.  The club needs to retool completely.  How is it Flick can't play for the Cats but does a bang-up job in Regina?

  2. As a journalist, I'm not about to get into a debate on media ethics at a site like this, but I will say, when a team's 2-14, what positive adjectives can be used to describe their play?  I mean, the coach is gonna feed you the same line nite after nite about how they played hard, they're getting better, there's hope for the future ... but how long can you keep printing that when the team routinely gets their asses kicked?

I run a weekly prediction column as CFL editor of Mop Squad Sports, and I've picked against Hamilton every single week.  So far, I've only been wrong twice.  And yes, I have been bashing the Tabbies, because they're a terrible football team.  You might say that the media needs to lay off the team and show some sympathy for those poor professional athletes, especially that Casey Printers with his well-deserved million-dollar contract, but face it, if the Hamilton media simply regurgitated the positive message spewed by Charlie Taaffe after every loss, they wouldn't sell many papers.  There are three things that sell in this world: s*x, violence, and controversy.  Like it or not, that's the way society is.  If the Ti-Cats want the media to lay off them, they need to start winning some football games, plain and simple.

  3. I don't know why the some people in the Media like kicking teams when they are down. Maybe because many of the media types were too small to play sports and now they are getting their shots in. Just kidding!

But I think real sports types would agree the Cats have had a really tough couple of years. As a Rider fan, it has been a tough - what 25 years? Other than 1 Cup year. Some really bad years in there as well. So I can truly sympathize, But before people bash them too much, and yes I am already talking next year for them. A few things to consider, 28 - 1st year players on the roster. 14 rookie starters this year. Yet, they have been in most of the games they have lost this year. I am not a huge Cats fan, but I will say to the Tiger-Cat fans.. hang on, your team could be awesome sooner than you think!

  4. I'm sick of the media too. They put anyone down just to make news. They need to focus on more positive things or how about this one "REAL" news!
