Why do some people act weird or feel indifferent about weddings?

I usually notice this behavior from single men or self centered women; they can not be happy for the bride and groom. It has been a pattern I see with these people in this criteria, Very odd

  1. Maybe they're cynics. Cynical people would feel like marriages are pointless because there's such a strong chance of divorce. Or perhaps they just aren't very conservative. Different opinions on the topic of marriage is the best answer, I suppose.

  2. Single men actually don't get excited. That means another guy has "given in" and they're afraid they might be next and have to step up and take responsibility for someone they love. And if they're not ready, then it scares them to death. Self centered women aren't happy for anyone else but themselves for anything.

If you're pregnant, if you win an award at work, if you get a better car or house, if your husband is hotter, if your kids are more intelligent, etc. They can't be gracious about it.

But, none of it matters because you aren't a selfish person. So don't let them get the best of you.

  3. my guess would be because of how people are raised.

  4. Well, you answered your own question.  Because they are self centered and only care about things having to do with themselves.

They think, "It's all about me, meee, ME!"

If people know people are that kind of people, WHY are they even invited to weddings in the first place???  Are they really 'your' friends?  Yikes.  Who needs friends like that!?

  5. I Think People Just Have Different Expectations About What A Good & Nice Wedding Is.

I Don't Think It's How People Are Raised. My Sister Had The Formal, Sit Down Dinner With Everything Fancy & More. But That's Just Not My Cup Of Tea.. Nor Is It My Fiances.

  6. Because weddings are overrated? All these shallow bridezillas fret and cause h**l for everyone involved, thinking their wedding day has to be picture perfect or the world is going to end (god I can't stand those types of women lol)..weddings are more like tedium and repeating worn-out traditions...people should just get together and stop wasting money on dumb weddings. And then after the wedding, all these couples have all these super high expectations...then it inevitably ends in divorce...then you just wasted all that money on that dumb wedding.

Yes I know my opinion isn't gonna be popular but there's some truth to it!

  7. Well, I can tell you why I am indifferent to other's weddings, it's 'cause of the "What's in it for me"? principle...Why should I get excited about YOUR wedding?....it is YOUR time of joy, and excitement not mine, if you give me "Mo'e Green" then I will rejoice at your wedding.

  8. Once in awhile someone comes on here like that. Usually they are planning to protest someone elses wedding. It seems like its always the same sentiment: marriage is just a piece of paper, its an institution set up by religion, etc.

And then there are the people who are against any wedding other JOP! I guess they hate the whole idea of the party, and dressing up, and spending money on the food and flowers.

They are entitled to their opinion, but it irks me when they wont attend weddings or put down others who want to have a traditional wedding. Its one thing to be against marriage if thats your cup of tea, but its another to use someone elses wedding as a platform for your views.

You get all types on here. Thats what YAnswers is all about!
