Why do some people assume that just because you are single, that you want to be "fixed up"?

I would like to get married someday, but I want to make sure that I choose the right woman, who is well-adjusted and mature and intelligent.

There are some though, who think that just because you are single, that you are fair game to be paired off with ANYONE. They have this attitude that just because someone walks upright and has a pulse, then they are dateable.

If she has 17 tattoos, is missing most of her teeth, smokes 4 packs a day, and flunked the 4th grade three times, then I don't want to date her.

Does that somehow make me picky or a bad person?

People in relationships often assume their friends and acquaintances want to be in them also. You indicated you were open to that so what's the harm in your friends trying to introduce you to people? If you aren't interested in someone they have in mind, then decline...same as if that person approached you on their own and initiated contact. No big deal.

You never know...someone you know might introduce you to someone who would be a great match for you. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being picky or selective (most of us have some kind of criteria for a potential partner) but don't be quick to discount everyone "some people" have in mind, just because a few of their potentials didn't quite match what you'd like in a partner.

Annoying as it may be, they mean well. Try to take it in the spirit intended or simply tell them you're capable of meeting women on your own and prefer not to be setup.

You have friends that care for you and want to see you happy. No, you are not a bad person and it never hurts to be picky nowadays if you don't want to date a pervert or someone with a STD. Good luck my friend. You've got a good head on your shoulders.

People don't assume that you want to be fixed up as much as they take it upon themselves to help you find that special someone. They have good intensions but if you want them to stop tell them to stop. No one knows what you want in a woman better than you do and you are not picky. You should have exactly what you want.
