Why do some people buy other people cellphones?

when somebody buys somebody a cellphone as a gift,what about the service,they cant just sign them up for it

it's their choice. it's a free country,they know the consequences of their actions so it's up to them if they hit it or not.. sometimes they did it because it is lesser than the brand new or other find it or called it as tripping.
