Why do some people choose to witness an horrifying thing like "death penalty"?

  2. As far as I'm concerned it is a bit disturbing and I am completely against the death penalty.

    However put yourself in their (the viewers) shoes. If someone had murdered someone close to you, would you want to see that murderer suffer for their crime? A lot of people would answer 'yes'. It might give them a feeling of closure and that justification has been done. They most likely may fully believe that the criminal is getting what they deserve and therefore see no problem with witnessing it.

    As for random people witnessing it who have no connection to the criminal or the victim... well I don't understand that but they may have their reasons.

I can't tell you what's "normal" these days but I'll tell you it's quite understandable that some people choose to do this. ie: If theyre daughter was brutally abused and murdered.....the emotions a parent can get from this alone.....it can really muster up thoughts of revenge etc.......some would even rather kill instead of "witness dealth penality".
