Why do some people hate what Obama says he wants for America?

Why are the Obama haters so cynical? Why would you not want more jobs here at home? Why would you not want us to break our addiction to oil? Why would you not want a cleaner environment? Why would you not want affordable health care? Why would you not want a more efficient government? Why would you not want the veterans to receive educational assistance after serving a term of duty? Why do you continue to insist that these goals cannot be attained? Why are you so negative? Everything Obama says he wants for this country is a positive thing for you and all Americans. Why do you despise your tax dollars going to these positive causes? It makes no sense.

  1. Because the price is too dear (and hate too strong a word).

  2. What every voter needs to do is to remember each preceding candidate and see what he promised and what he really delivered.  Usually the gap between the two is like the Grand Canyon.

Obama is just trying to pander to naive, unsophisticated people.  Here's a rundown of the things you mentioned.

    1)   More jobs:  no amount of government incentives can compensate when people in India are willing to work for 1/4 the price of an American, period.  Obama is just making an "issue" of something all candidates would support.  It simply is not so easy.

    2)   Break our addiciton to oil:  as far back as the Nixon Administration, candidates have promised this.  They never deliver, and the reason is Big Oil will (figuratively) destroy them.  Big OIl is very, very powerful.  Just read up on Henry Ford.  He wanted to make his car totally out of hemp, and have it run on an oil derived from hemp.  He was bullied into changing his design, and from then on he warned the people in the U.S. of the incredible power Big Oil wields.

    3)   Cleaner environment?  Once again, why doesn't Obama just say he's for happy children and cute puppy doggies?  C'mon, everyone wants this; the question is who can better deliver on the promise?  Liberals just make matters worse.  We should have ignored their dire warnings about nuclear energy.  We'd be energy sufficient right now.

    4)   Veterens DO receive educational assistance, that is a major reason they join the army!!!  If Obama intimated this program does not exist, he's playing you all for fools.

Listen, Obama is playing to the lowest common denominator.  He mouths a lot of platitudes, and acts like he "bravely" supports things which everyone already agrees upon anyway.  People like him try to make points with clueless voters by making flowery speeches about non-issues.  Of course everyone wants good education.  Of course everyone wants a clean environment.  The question is, who will really deliver on his promises.

Now, this is really going to gall you, but in Peggy Noonan's latest book about Ronald Reagan, she praises GWB for one thing:  he actually delivered on almost everything he promised.  That's a fact.

  3. They only want our tax dollars to go for more war, and not even the possibility of making the lives of all Americans better.

"Conservatives love America, they just hate all the people who live there." - Jon Stewart

  4. In the last congressional elections, the democrats campaigned on a platform of troop withdrawal from Iraq - once elected, we got an increase in deployment.

They also campaigned on a "commonsense approach" to lowering gas prices - once elected, they have done everything they can to prevent the US from drilling for more of its own resources.

Why should anyone believe that Obama's promises are any different?

  5. Maybe we like what he wants for America and we want it to...if only he told us How is going to do it.  I want a unicorn and a rainbow. Don't you wnat me to have it?

  6. Because he is going to take money from family so we can give food stamps to drug users, my college education is at risk, seriously, s***w Obama

  7. Easy, because he's never come right out and said, in detail, exactly what he wants for the country.

And more importantly, just how he plans to accomplish it.

I know you think he has, but there are a great number of people who believe he is not being open about his motives and methods.

And the policies he has been clear on are unimpressive to a great many of us.

  8. You have deluded yourself to the maximum.  He is a left wing liberal loony.  All of his ideas show him to be a socialist.  We do not want or need a socialist running this country.  I want "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."  Freedom (particularly from the imposition of government) is what we cherish the most.

  9.   Yeah I got a tax break from old georgie too meanwhile everything else I have to pay for has doubled or tripled in price. You know what his measly tax cut isn't cutting it. i would have more money in my pocket if we just had someone in the white house with some sense this Isn't monopoly after the end of the term we just put all the money back in the box.

Why are you republicans so freaken stupid I can see being a republican if your rich that makes sense. But so many of them are just plain ignorant. Let me clear this up right now no one on yahoo answers is rich.

  10. Stop believing his (Obama) fantasy land baloney. Higher taxes, weak military, business will "run for cover" due to high taxes and lay off millions. Same as Jimmy Carter and his administration. We have been here before. A REAL recession, but don't worry, This will not happen because McCain/Palin is a lock in November.

  11. It isn't so much the particulars that he wants, but he doesn't say how he will accomplish them.  A cleaner environment...ok, but HOW?  More jobs...the President doesn't hire more than but a few thousand people.  He talks of things he cannot control.  Veterans already get educational assistance.  What Obama is about is a radical redistribution of the wealth, the same old tired Democratic policy choices of the past that have been rejected.

  12. Because Obama cannot give us any of those things without the co operation of Congress and since he is a freshman Senator, he will have no political pull what so ever, I could run for President and promise all that too, people forget that it is Congress that appropriates the money, Congress that passes the laws, Obama thinks he is running for King of America, just shows how naive he is, he won't be able to accomplish anything unless he gets a majority Congress, even then it will be tough.

  13. You ask good questions, but I hope you are willing to accept good answers.

Obama said he would spend $100 billion in 10 years on replacing oil as our energy source, but then at his convention he upped it too $150 billion - he never says "what its for" in otherwords the specifics are not there.

We all want cleaner environments and Republicans seriously want to end the addiction to foreign oil - which is why they say drill here and drill now.  McCain says build 45 nuclear power plants (that is specific) so that we can use natural gas in place of oil.

Making everyone that works pay for insurance for everyone that does not isn't going to make health care affordable.  Passing tort reform on silly law suits, increasing the supply of health care by funding universities and getting government out of the way of health care - will do that.

  14. Where is he going to get the money for all this?   Duh.. you the tax payer

    Same speech different year

Hope on his broken promises folks

  15. These are things politicians have promised since the beginning OF politics in our country: where does he expect to GET the money to do these things from? The quadrillions of debt our country already has is ludicrous.

I remember Regan's "trickle down" theory, the first Bush's "read my lips, no new taxes" rhetoric, and THIS Bush's "no child left behind" baloney. That from a governor of Texas, which at the time was at the bottom of the pile where children's education quality was judged.

As for Obama, he wasn't even a senator for an entire year before going for presiddency. I have SHOES older than that. He has NO experience, and is currently doing everything he said he hates, including taking corporate money for his campaign. He has no concept of patriotism [read his second book], doesn't even know there are only 50 states, which is pretty basic,

Heck, the other night I saw a clip of him on a big TV screen being sent to the democratic convention. He was speaking from Kansas City.... but said he was in St. Louis Missouri. His youngest daughter had to prompt  him with "what city are you in, Daddy?" for him to get it right. And THAT was a live satellite feed!!

He also hasn't got a clue as to what real Washington, DC politics is all about. All his idealism will fall by the roadside if he gets elected, just like every other president's has, because you inherit all the bulls*ht currently in effecct. All the problems Bush has created won't just disappear because Obama want them to. For example, nuclear weapons. All the world powers that have them aren't going to put them aside and play nice. North Korea is especially hung up on daring other countries to mess with them Their government fires missles over Japan every once in a while, and then tries to blackmail the USA into doing what it wants. You REALLY think they or any other country will tell America they were sorry, and lets all hold hands and sing "we are the world?" FAT CHANCE.

Chances are you are very young, and don't even know who Ronald Regan WAS, so i doubt you know how politics works, but there is more to it then what some Obama guy thinks will work. Other countries not only don't LIKE America, they have no respect for us, which is something we used to have. If you are a newly registered Democrat, then great, but I have been voting forever, and the ONLY politican who lived up to his promises was Bill Clinton.

Obama is just some niave well-wisher who hasn't got a clue. As for tax dollars, health care, etc., politicans have promised those things since forever. It can't be attained without money, and this country is so far in debt, it's insane.

Everyone wants the things you mention, dear, but nothing will change, it never does. Jobs are overseas because our business tax is 35%, whereas for individuls it's 7%; healthcare has a huge strain on it because of people living longer and having more diseases; and there's no such thing as an efficient government. So if you are a new voter this year, and vote Democrat, good for you. Just don't expect the campaign rhetoric to come true.
