Why do some people have better eyesight than others?

I have really weak eyesight.They told me my vision was as bad as 20/80! Sometimes if i pull my eyelids back i can see clearer.So why do i have bad eyesight? What causes bad eyesight?

  1. Things that can affect your eyes are reading or watching tv in the dark. Trying to read small things from far away, it strains your eyes, and sometimes too much tv.

It's all about heredity.  Your prescription is directly related to the shape of the cornea of the eye.  Just as the you have inherited many traits, such as the shape of your nose or the shape of you chin, from your parents or grandparents, etc you also have inherited the shape of your eyes from your ancestors.  Yes, there is evidence that environment can alter structure but the majority of eyesight issues are hereditary in origin.

I wish I knew..for I have the same problem but I am sure you are young and your problem can only stem from a medical one.  I am much older and as we get older our body goes along with it too it changes.  What I don't understand is people who have good eye vision tend to use it foolishly..or what looks ugly to ALL of us looks pretty or nice to them...Hey go figure for it is all out there for the public to view.
