Why do some people have elongated head when no one in their family does?

I mean the type of head thats elongated at the expence of forehead width. Any known causes besides carniosynostosis?

  1. Elongated heads must be recessive traits that can be hidden until you get a double gene for them. Or it might take a bunch of recessive genes to get a elongated head.
