  1. You will be fine as far as your job goes, they won't care where you are from as long as you are a hard worker.

As far as the other point, it just gets a little annoying seeing yet another person from CA or TX enjoying the Colorado lifestyle, plus since the cost of living is so much higher in California, people from there can buy a really nice/huge house for the cost of a shack in CA. But it's not like we Discriminate against people from out of state. Just get your Colorado License plates and no one will ever notice.

  2. The Californians have been a large part of the reason that the home prices are through the roof here.  They sell their homes for three times what a comparable place in Colorado would be and then move here and act like they're something special because now they can actually afford that BMW.  They drive like idiots and a lot of them are little more than low life, gang-bangers (or wannabes) with little going for them other than the fact that they're now California ex-pats.  Then there's the other bunch that acts like because they're from California they're practically movie stars and want to be treated as such.  I'm so tired of Californians saying, "Well when I was in California it wasn't that way."  They should have stayed in California then.  Californians - and I'm speaking generally, here - are living proof that c**p flows uphill.

The Texans aren't the problem they used to be.  They've slowed down the mass exodus somewhat but a lot of them have come in and bought huge parcels of land so they have someplace to bring their buddies hunting and fishing.  A lot of them have come up here with their arrogant attitudes and generally made a bad name for all Texans.  I go to Texas a couple of times a year to visit my wife's family and mostly they're a good bunch down there.  I guess it's just the jerks that like to come here.

  3. California and Texas are the two most populous states in the country which means that on a normal average, most of the people moving to any state in the country are probably from California or Texas.  I think most people feel that way as it seems like everyone moving to 'their' town is from those two states.  People want variety.

  4. CA transplants: In general CA has some very smart, enterprising residents who any city would want to inhabit. However, like any state, it also has some trashy low life residents who nobody wants. The cost of living is high in CA, much higher than CO. So, what happens is the trashy residents move to CO only for the lower cost of living (whereas, transplants from the midwest, east and south move to CO for the great weather and outdoor sports. However, CA also has good weather and outdoors sports, so, CA peopole usually move here only for financial reasons). They end up treating CO like their personal, low-class outlet shopping mall. Therefore, they give CA transplants a bad reputation.

TX transplants: Overall, SOME (not all) people from TX generally tend to be arrogant and have an inferiority complex with the whole "everything's bigger in Texas" wannabe cowboy image/style. So, they buy large SUVs and they are horrible drivers. They drive too slow in dry conditions and are all over the road in the snow. They can't ski well and get in the way on and act obnoxious in ski towns. Plus, they have wierd infatuations w/ college football and expect us CO residents to be impressed when they roll up to a bar or restaurant in Aggies or Longhorns gear and cheer loudly during a football game.

All in all, what I said are stereotypes and not by any means true for ALL transplants from CA or TX. If you're a down to earth, not pretentious, positive person, you will do fine here and have no problem getting a job.

  5. My family moved from Texas to Colorado FOR my dad's job. We never experienced any problems. It's just one of those that people like to complain about. You know..."Oh those Texans and Californians." Really...it doesn't matter.

In all honesty though, I wish we had stayed in Texas. People there are much friendlier.

Your job shouldn't discriminate against you just because of where you used to live. Employers probably won't even care. People make fun of people from Texas because we're "loud and obnoxious" but really, we just like have fun. =) Don't let a little stereotype stop you from going where you want to go.

  6. I've people say that about Ca. and Tx. but I don't believe it. I have plenty of friend from  LA area and they never had any problems. Maybe 30 years ago that could have been true, but not  now.
