Question:

Why do some people insist that Palin is against birth control?

In 2002, when she was running for lieutenant governor, Palin sent an e-mail to the anti-abortion Alaska Right to Life Board saying she was as "pro-life as any candidate can be" and has "adamantly supported our cause since I first understood, as a child, the atrocity of abortion."

Palin said last month that no woman should have to choose between her career, education and her child. She is pro-contraception and said she's a member of a pro-woman but anti-abortion group called Feminists for Life.

"I believe in the strength and the power of women, and the potential of every human life," she said.

I can't find one place on the internet that quotes her as saying she's against birth control, and everything I DO find (in her own actual words) says that she's "pro-contraception"

Can anyone show me where she says she's against birth control?

If possible, can someone also give me ANY link to where PALIN says she's against abortion in cases where the mother's life is in danger...I can't find that either, and I've never heard her say that...I've watched every interview with her that I can possibly find...I just want to know where people are getting this information, since so many are saying it.

  1. What she said was that all pregnancies must come to term.

Anyone who has watched the sneaky way the anti choice lobby works knows that means any method of birth control other than barrier methods.

The reasoning ( if you can use that word) is that once the egg and cell meet, its a baby.  With rights that are fully invested as the woman who must now carry it.  So no Pill, since the egg and cell might have met but not implanted and not allowing the implantation is the same as abortion.

Bush himself advance this idea three weeks ago.

The Catholic reference is due to the support shes gotten from the Catholic church on her position.

  2. Everything I've read shows she supports the law of the land while holding moral convictions that differ, ... and isn't against birth control.

Jenny, I looked up Gov. Palin on that website and it only says she's pro-life, not anti-birth control.  Could you clarify where again, please?

  3. She's a member of Feminists For Life.

Feminists For Life claims they have no stance against birth control. However, they have no stance supporting the use of birth control (other than the rhythm or fertility awareness methods).

And considering that Palin is anti-choice and pro-abstinence only education, it's not completely unreasonable to think that her views on birth control will be less than stellar for the populace.

"Personally, I don't think the taxpayers should pay for peoples' birth control either...I think people should be responsible for their own sexual activity and choices.."

Well, then I don't think tax payers should pay for people's babies. But we do. Food Stamps. Families First. WIC. Medicaid.

If you're going to pay for one, you should pay for the other. Or you should outright pay for nothing.

Without birth control and access to family planning a woman would have more than 15 pregnancies in her lifetime.

That is a medical problem. It's not healthy.

  4. because they are ignorant!

  5. I agree with fmd125

  6. The problem is that you are not going to find an answer to your ponderings, because the answers are locked away in their closed little minds, and it's all based on rhetoric. And they cannot admit that to you. Otherwise they might be deemed a hate monger. Because hate is the motivator.

  7. Democrats and Liberals twist the truth to fit their twisted agenda. Its what they do.

  8. Short answer? If you look up her issues on www.ontheissues.org it says...shes against birth control.

  9. Palin opposes birth control such as "the morning after" pill, which is given to rape victims and women who had unprotected s*x. She also opposes some IUDs which fall into a class of birth control that prevents implantation. So, yes, she does oppose som forms of birth control.

  10. Just go to the website for the group that she belongs to, Feminists for Life. They have her lookalike on the front page. She agrees with all of their positions, which includes the non-use of "abortifacient" birth control methods. This means that ALL forms of birth control EXCEPT the Rhythm Method and abstinence are prohibited. "...some FFL members and supporters support the use of non-abortifacient contraception while others oppose contraception for a variety of reasons. FFL is concerned that certain forms of contraception have had adverse health effects on women."

This would be a fantastic question to ask her. Hopefully, someone will ask the question - that one and more about her anti-women's rights agenda.

  11. I haven't seen any position on birth control.  I do know she opposes abortion...even in cases of rape or incest.  That is EXTREME to me.

Palin isn't Catholic. She belongs to a fundamentalist protestant church.

edit: Seems you are correct.  Palin supports contraception.

    Time magazine:

"She is Christian and pro-life, but also a supporter of birth control: she's a member of Feminists For Life (FFL), an anti-abortion, pro-contraception organization. In 2002, she wrote a letter to FFL stating that she had "adamantly supported our cause since I first understood, as a child, the atrocity of abortion." She supports the teaching of creationism in public schools, alongside evolution."

  12. I don't know.  I still believe Palin in unqualified and not to be trusted.

This is something that can not be said about Biden.

McCain means 4 more years of the past 8.

  13. Maybe she better inform her daughter about birth control unless she wants more grandchildren !

  14. Does it matter that much? McCain is against funding for contraception and he will be running the show.

But for the record, FFL group that she belongs to doesn't take a position on contraception, and Palin isn't against abortion in the case of risking the life of the mother. But her position is still pretty extreme, being as she thinks abortion should be against the law in cases of rape and incest.
