Seriously, I can't think of a dumber group of athletes than professional basketball players. I don't care what they think about anything, unless I need to know where to get some weed or find some hookers.

Empty gesture time.

  1. Dumber group?  Who's dumb here?  They're the ones who are getting paid tons of money and going to the olympics!

  2. If they're keeping their mouths shut, perhaps they aren't so stupid, after all. It would be pretty danged rude of them to say anything while they're being hosted by China, who are buying every drop of oil they can from Sudan. The importance of being a good guest is lost on some people.

  3. To represent the "african american community", I guess it's better than "rappers". Lesser of two criminals.

  4. Anybody who would look to an athlete to get a perspective on world or local events has other issues to begin with. Just like the dead beat parents that look to athletes for role models for their children. I think because these guys make so much money, alot of people think that their opinions mean something. Only in America.

  5. Kobe and Lebron are the two of the 70 strong supporters of Darfur. I don't think they will. Get 1.3 Billion people of hating you or 1.3 Billion embracing you so much that you feel like a God to them.

  6. Your question was a little funny.  But seriously, I'm big into ending the genocide going on in Darfur.  And I would like anyone who is willing to speak on Darfurians behalf to do so.

However, I don't think anyone should coerce our Olympic team to do anything other than swim fast, dunk hard, and look pretty on the Wheaties boxes.

So, I agree with you mostly.

P.S. You can find hookers in da streets. And when you find them, you can ask them where to get some weed.

Two birds - one stone. '-)

  7. The idiots that decided to talk were probably idiots brainwashed by the media.

  8. The whole idea of the olympics is to come together as one. It is not a place for politics, war, or social disagreements. When the olympics first started wars used to completely stop for a month and the countries fighting the wars would come together to watch athletes compete.

Also it is extremely wrong for you to imply that all basketball players (Assuming because of sterotypes) smoke weed or live bad lives. 99% of them grew up in poor broken homes without fathers and in bad neighborhoods. Despite this they still not only finished high school, but went on to graduate from college. Also the NBA does drug test twice a month, making it impossible for there to be drug use.

  9. 95% of the US olympic team counldn't find darfur on a map.

  10. I was discussing this with my son just now...

people often confuse fame with intelligence... it's the same with movie stars..

Just because you can do one thing well, doesn't mean you're the next Albert Einstein!!!

  11. I haven't heard anyone from the olympic team speak out on ANY world happenings. They have there head shoved so far up their butt busy in their game, I guess they don't have "Time" For the poor people of the world.

  12. I only think that certain members have been asked to speak out on the situation in Darfur or make some kind of gesture drawing attention to it.

    Namely Kobe and LeBron.

Why?  Because they have been vocal about it before the Olympics.  If you are gonna put yourself in the spotlight over as hot a political subject as that, then most people think you should be willing to go all the way, not just do it when it benefits you the most.

  13. How prejudice! How about, good for them!
