Question:

Why do some people not use Cruise Control on highway?

Soon as i hit the highway i put the car in 6th gear and set the cruise for 80. If i get close to someone i just change lanes...never accelerate or anything.....and just pass them.

But I always get that person that passes you after you pass them about 5 minutes later and you end up having to pass them again....and the cycle goes on...continuously slow down and speed up... and they seem to be getting angry at me for all of this. Which then frustrates me....but yeah....why not jsut set hte cruise?

  1. Not everyone has it. And where is the speed limit 80?

  2. Some people don't use it by choice, Also avoided by these people is: GPS, Cell Phones, Cup Holders, DVD players, Automatic traction control, Automatic Stability control, Electeric windows, mirrors etc. They are actually DRIVING a car. Not just rideing in a mobile den.  I don't think people should be allowed to drive until they finish building their first car. Most can't even change a flat. (I drive a Tow Truck)

  3. Because they usually tailgate and make useless lane changes so they can advance another car length. Can't do this with the CC on.

I'm with you. CC all the way

  4. Some don't have it, but most don't have the intelligence needed to use it.

  5. Cruise control is such a good thing. I use it only when I have to be doing something while driving, like make a call, etc. I use it sometimes when driving long hours and/or feel radar around.

Besides, I do not use it because I feel it takes some control of the car from me. I like to be in control that's why I drive a stick shift.

  6. Some people just feel more in control of the car when they can control the speed with their foot.  When they put the car in cruise, they are losing control.  It's for the same reason that some people like manual transmission.

The higher you set your cruise speed, the more likely you are to have to hit the brake due to a slow driver.  If you're setting it at 80, it's not going to last very long unless the road is wide open, so there's probably no point in using it.

  7. I have cruise control on my van, but I don't like to use it.  I constantly watch my speed and I'm pretty good at maintaining a steady speed.  I guess I feel like I'm not in control with the cruise control on--my husband is the one who uses it.

I do see what you're talking about.  You have someone in a 55 zone going 45, then 56, then 47, then 54....

  8. They probably enjoy ticking you off.
