  1. In the UK at least it's because the pay is poor, there's pressure to work long hours (overtime), you have to work unsocial hours and have little say over the hours you're rostered and you also have little say as to when you can take your vacation.

    Your family and friends normally get public holidays off but you're expected to work them.

    You're under constant pressure to keep to the timetable even when the traffic congestion prevents it, passengers are often rude and spit at you, swear or otherwise try to rob/assault you and they don't like it when you object to them illegally smoking on the bus, urinating on it, vandalising it, lighting fires or setting off CS gas canisters.

    Other passengers may decide your bus is a great place to vomit, drink, inject drugs, fight, fornicate, rape or murder each other.

    Some decide it's perfect for eating takeaway food in and leaving the discarded food and rubbish on.

    The uniforms are normally cheap polyester fabrics that make you sweat and stink and you often are pressured to take out vehicles with significant defects. If the police stop you and spot the faults, you're liable, not the bus company.

    If you get so disheartened that you want to resign, you have to make sure that you've been with the company for more than a year or they will try to recover the significant costs of training you to drive a bus.

    All that and I haven't mentioned the behaviour of other road users yet...

    I'm stunned that anyone sticks with the job!

  2. nothing wrong with helping people, the problem is when you deal with the public in any way it is stressful. they are demanding, inconsiderate , and feel  they are special and you should only cater to me.

  3. you have to deal with , drunks , crazy people , people not happy with anything , cranky old people

  4. If you are not a people person, you should not drive a bus.  If you love being around people, drive a bus.

    Simple =)

    My dad drove bus for a city, drove for a school, drives taxi right now...  he's a people person...!  =)

    It's not a bad job at all...  you do what you want to do, it's your job...

    And when people act up, he laughs about it later...you know, the drunks or the drug addicts...etc...

    He has also driven around quite a few famous peeps!  =)  ball players and such...

  5. well seeing as people don't care... they talk and they scream and the bus driver has like  no concentration whatsoever... and if there is like a fight, they have to stop what they are doing to either break up the fight or call the police. It's just not a job i would want to have..

  6. Dunno, my sister is a school bus driver and she loves it.
