Why do some people say that 'the best cure for Christianity is reading the Bible' ?

How much effort does your church put in learning the Bible. We were never encouraged to read the bible because the priest had the job to tell us what it says. Sad to say they have no idea what it says. Just ask them.

We are all obligated to read the bible ourselves if we want to live forever under God's Kingdom

Read your bible daily.

The bible is a barbaric book full of mistakes and inconsistencies. If you read it from cover to cover, you'll be disgusted.

They are trying to insinuate that the bible is full of contradictions and that God often comes across as a sadistic jerk.

The best cure?? I've read it more than once (many times). I am still Christian. What needs cured is misunderstanding. Unfortunately that won't happen to all, in this lifetime.

That people will realize Christianity for the bit of nonsense it is if they just knew more about it.

The fact is, many Christians have probably not read the bible from cover-to-cover. It's rather sad.

The Bible is the "word of bronze age superstitious goat herders." Any religious text can be called "the word of God." I have read the Bible and it is a horribly written piece of fiction and contradictions.

It worked for me.  Once I read it with an open mind I could no longer believe that it was the word of God.
