  1. Whole lotta sacrificin'

  2. There are many examples of people treating animals in ways we consider inhumane now.

For example, in the Bible it says that man is given "dominion" over the animals, which implies that man may do whatever he wishes to animals because he is superior.  In Leviticus it also mentions that if a man is caught having s*x with an animal, both the man and the animal should be stoned to death.

There are more examples...read the Bible for yourself to get a real feel for what the Bible is really like.  It ain't no bed of roses, that's for sure.

  3. That sounds crazy. I know in the bible a donkey talked, the holy spirit let him speak; In that way he saved his life and the person too

in the old testament they used lambs as a sacrificed symbol of our sins.

and Jesus always compared us as him lambs where he is the protector

  4. 1.  The flood

    2.  The first nine chapters of Leviticus

    3.  The 2000 pigs that Jesus killed

    That's just for starters..

  5. People used to sacrifice animals to God. (Old Testament)

  6. Animal sacrifice was common in those days.  It was not torture and the Bible perscribes humane methods but actually this made little difference to the animal.  Killed for sacrifice or killed for food dead is still dead.  We do not sacrifice animals any longer but we still butcher them for food.

  7. Until the true sacrifice came to fulfillment, animals were the scapegoat.  It was a way to point to a spiritual way that would unfold to the enlightened.  But for starters, people were very dumb and ignorant back then, so they needed something to get them thinking along the right path.

  8. Nah, it's animal friendly except for slaughtering them for food and killing them as sacrifices and drowning them in floods and sometimes burning them in conquered cities, along with all the other possessions.

  9. Hello,

It is reflective of the times. Actually animal rights and prevention of cruelty is a relatively new social philosophy which only date as far back as the early 19th century as far as legislation is concerened. Once again we must judge the societies of the Bible by the context and standards of their times; not ours.

  10. Many stories in the Old Testament relate to ritual (animal) sacrifices.  I'm sure the PETA crowd is not enamored of these.

Check the story in Genesis where Abraham is asked to sacrifice his son as a test, then when G-d relents, he spies a ram in a thicket, kills him, and burns the animal for G-d's glorification.  Gruesome stuff!

  11. The only thing that comes to mind are the ritual sacrifices mentioned all over the place in the Old Testament. But they're no crueler than the modern way to slaughter animals, so I'm not sure.

  12. honey the bible is full of torture and death to everyone even animals. just read it and u will see. plus christians think animals have no souls so they don't mean much to them. i love animals, if u have been around an animal u can see that to do have emotions and characteristics like us. they even have cultures. humans are animals too.

  13. The old testament have a lot of burnt offerings.

  14. Well there is torture vs. worship..

since before our time and still today some religions kill or sacrifice an animal to show love and obediance to God.  These people have feelings and do not kill these animals lightly..or for fun..as a believer in freedom of worship it is my duty to respect that..some people some of them americans find this barbaric..but it is normal to hate what you don't understand. However if they are going to take time to judge i feel they should know all they can about a religion before they draw conclusions.

  15. No. It talks about sacrificing animals. God made animals for us so they could feed us and clothe us.
