Why do some people seem to always be able to?

put a negative twist on everything?

Examples:

You say it's a beautiful, bright day out and they turn it into it's too hot and bright out.

My son just earned a B on his assignment and they twist it to "Oh, your son is average then."

I'm not just talking about the weather and kids but everything. How can some people be so unbelievably depressing?

They are jealous of your positivity, and try to get you down by making your good side seem bad. They are the ones with the problem so don't pay too much attention to them, and just laugh it off, thinking about their pathetic, miserable lives.

Ok allways remember this..A positive person can never bring a negative person up, but a negative person will ALWAYS bring a positive person down......I say to myself...only one life which soon is past only what's done with love will last....bottom line find positive people to be around ....it makes a world of differance

Much of it is habit -- the habit of contradicting what they've just heard, for instance.

Yes, such people are a real drag. Especially when they're just as grumbly about clouds as they are about sunlight.

Don't let them bring you down.

And good for you for NOT being one of those parents who throws a hissy-fit every time their child misses even one question. Those people are destroying their kids.

But you might want to take note of those who are the crabby-boots, and limit your time with them, and what things you say -- as you KNOW you'll just get negativity in return.

Being positive is often looked down on as being drippy or stupid. Seeing negative everywhere is more "sophisticated" and smart. Ignore this attitude.

Their high expectations mean that everybody elses seemingly great events are below par, and nothing will ever be perfect to them.

Instead of enjoying the little things in life, they see the whole as a competition for perfection which, realistically, things will never be to them.

Their lives will never be fulfilled and they will always be unhappy because they always see the darker side of anything remotely good.
