Why do some people think it's OK not to tip delivery drivers?

I have worked for tips for 5 years and truly believe people who don't tip are going to h**l.

They should tip. If you don't want to leave a tip then go out and get the food yourself. And if you are poor, don't order delivery if you can't afford to leave a few bucks. You should be going to the grocery store anyway. People obviously don't understand gas costs money and the fact that most delivery drivers make less than minimum wage.

Bottom line: If the service sucks, then don't leave a tip. If the service was good, don't be an *** and not leave a tip either.

Someone has to do this job. Telling him to get a another job is dumb. Its just an excuse to be a cheap, greedy person.

I think its really ignorant NOT to tip people when they do a good job, its pretty cheap. Now its stupid at resturants though, because when your waiter/waitress does a good job the tip is distributed throughout the kitchen.. Thats really stupid in my oppinon, you were tipping THEM not everyone else.

What type of delivery? Are you talking about packages? Because every time a package is delivered to my house it just gets left at the door. I never even see the delivery guy. I don't know how I'm supposed to tip someone that I never see.

There seems to be a lot of confusion as to what jobs/services actually require/deserve tips. Don't hold it against your customers. If you want to blame someone (A) Blame your employer for not paying better wages (B) Blame yourself for not seeking better employment.

some people dont like the service provided, so they dont tip.

some people dont have lots of money.

thank the people who do.

im 12 and i work in my family restaurant and i know about tips.

plus, i think YOU would be the one going to h**l by hating people who dont leave tips.

EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR GAS, THEY HAVE TO PAY FOR GAS, TOO! seriously!

believe it or not alot of people believe that the delivery charge goes directly to the driver, so they believe that is an automatic tip. which i know better coming from experience that the delivery fee goes directly to the company and not the driver. and for some people, if they receive poor service then no tip. which in hind sight, most of the time its not the drivers fault.

You didn't specify what job you have.  If you are delivering using your own vehicle (such as pizza), yeah, I would tip you.  Otherwise, if you are being paid at least $8.00 an hour (probably more like $10.00+ for most) and using a company vehicle, you do not need a tip.

nobody ever put a gun to your head and made you take a tipping job. you should have known from the start that sometimes you dont get anything on some days. telling people they should go to h**l just for not giving a few bucks is pretty selfish in my opinion. so i can see why you didnt get tipped.
