  1. I have known some people with children who earned some money in cash form and didn’t declare it to the Internal Revenue Service, especially when it was the only type of income they had. They avoid filing for income tax all together. If they knew that by declaring their earned income and it falls in about mid of what the IRS calls low income level, they could actually get some money from the government as part of the low earned income credit. The amount would be what is left after satisfying their fifteen percent self-employment social security tax obligation. The only catch I read when I prepared my son’s first income tax return is that you have to be older than twenty-five years old to qualify, and if you have kids, you get more credit. Please consult your tax preparer, because I could be wrong. Hey, what do I know? I prefer to pay a lot in taxes and make a lot of money than make less money and pay no taxes or get credit from the government.

  2. They are deluded and happy to listen to kooks buy into to schemes that tell them what they want to hear. The success rate in court for people claiming they don't have to pay is zero.

  3. There are people who resent the government and come up with all sorts of schemes to avoid taxes -- most of them illegal.

For example, there are a number of "preachers" who claim that since they are the church they don't have to pay.

There are others who claim that the income tax violates the constitution because the constitution doesn't explicitly authorize income taxes.

Then there are those who claim the are exempt due to defects in the tax code.

    Hope this helps
