Some people wear huge coats, low-ride their pants, boxers hanging out, t-shirts down to their knees, why don't they buy clothing that fit them correctly? Are they trying to make some kind of statement or do they simply like that style? I'm just wondering.

  1. i think they think its in style.......

  2. i don't think there is a good answer to that

  3. no, they're just being black

  4. cuz its what they like

i like black skinny jeans black tops converse black hoodies band tees wild colored hair or just black

black skirts and dresses dark eyeliner

just like you like what you like.

    lol

  5. They usually where it either because their friends do or they think that they are cool. They don't want to stand out and be "weird", even thought wearing clothes that fit right is what you're supposed to do.

  6. its suppose to be gangster

it started from people in jail. their clothes got stretched out because they didnt get to wash them often so they got all baggy and the gangsters want that style. but most of the gangsters now just copy their idol rappers or other gangsters. most people didnt know about this but i saw it on tv and now its the style for the gangsters

  7. people like it cuz it looks gangsta

  8. They want us to kill them.

  9. well it goes with a certain attitude. i don't want to sound motherly either its just that every style of dress goes with the wearer's attitude.

  10. Because they think they are " Gangster " ?

  11. What do you care?

  12. I think they just want to stand out and be noticed.

  13. Its just a fad that will fade away soon, (I HOPE) I think it looks absolutely atrocious, when boys show their underwear.

  14. Maybe they just want to look different

  15. b/c they think it's cool, but i don't think it's cool at all, to be honest.

  16. I'm sure they're wondering why we wear colored shirts and Abercrombie pants. So, it's all relative.

  17. They feel the need to express their "individuality" by wearing the exact same thing that thousands of other people wear.

  18. Why do you wear the clothes you do?

We all put on what makes us feel better about ourselves. The people that wear the very baggy clothing style, in their society/culture/mind-set, they look good and feel good in those clothes. Perhaps they like the image it portrays, or doesn't like how people think of that style now and wear to it try to portray a different image. Everyone is different and in a society with a set of common rules we must use our clothing style as a way to define ourselves to others.

I do know that the history behind that style was not to look 'gangster' as people said below. It was poor people who couldn't afford new cloths. They would wear hand me downs that they'd have to grow into. If you think about it in that context and then where you see this style worn, it makes sense that it was eventually mainstreamed. Also, it is not necessarily the clothing style that might show being a 'gangster' (a term that used to only be used with the mafia, not street gangs) but that street gangs come from poor neighborhoods and the types of young people that had no choice to wear the big baggy clothes.

Perhaps the people that wear it now (those who are aware of the history) do it to show their pride in their roots...and of course you always have the lennons and posers.

  19. maybe they think that they look cool? i personally think that it looks completely dumb. why would any one dress like that. it looks so.....bad.

  20. i can't stand that,

    they don't look all that

    "thug".

    like the host on "from

g's to gents" said - you can

either pull your *** down or

    your pants up."

    i don't see much statement,

other than 'my pants are 10

    sizes too big'.
