Why do some places have employees work 7.75 hours/day instead of 8.0 hours /day?

  1. I would guess it is a paid 15 minute break.  


  2. Maybe if they work them full time they will have to provide benefits and they're too cheap to do that.  

  3. I believe that working over 8 hours a day, is consider overtime.

    And company's have to give the employee more benefits if they are working overtime, plus they have to pay taxes, etc.

    The reason more employees work 7.75 hours a day, instead of 8.0 hours is because overtime. And overtime will cause stress to the company and the employee.

  4. They do it to avoid the legal obligations due full time employee.
